Hi I'm using PSPX and I can't work out how to change the colour on an edging overlay, normally I use my hue/saturation and colorize tools but they won't work on black - is there something I'm missing?

Hi Gabby. I use PSP9. If I have an overlay that I am really fond of I change it to a mask. Then when I use it I can make it any colour or gradient or pattern I like using the flood fill bucket tool and I often ad a 3d effect too to make it pop out. Most of the overlays I get from DSP I have turned into masks. The example below was an overlay from Elizabeth Weaver's Backstage Guitars Add on, I made one of the overlays into a mask and flooded it with a pale blue and white gradient, then added 3d to it for a bit of dimension, you can also add drop shadow if you want. If you just want to change the colour of the overlay this is what I do in Psp9 - Go to top menu bar, Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Hue,saturation,lightness. Move the saturation slider to near the bottom and the lightness slider to near the top, the overlay will turn pale grey. Then to colour it go back to top menu, Adjust/color balance/manual color correction, then choose a colour. Hope this helps you, it is probably similar in Pspx.:)

Thanks Valerie, I didn't think of turning them into masks - I'll have a try tonight.
