Ok...so thanks to you all I now know what this is and have the free software you use to view it...my question is when you are saving your pics and stuff from camera and photoshop is there anything you have to do for the info to stay...I notice on some pics it says there isn't any data...just wondered...

With photoshop if you use save for web then it strips the exif data, not sure about other editing programmes :)

If I do a lot of editing, with adjustment layers etc. then save... most of the time my EXIF info is gone. HOWEVER, I'm editing a second copy NOT the original. Most of the shots on my blog etc. have no EXIF info... they have been edited, resized, sharpened, framed etc.

I've found that the only time my EXIF data is stripped is when I use the "save for web" option in Photoshop.
Also in Photoshop, if you click File -> File Info... (I think), you have options to add even more data, including description, location, etc. It's also accessible through Adobe Bridge. I found this exceptionally helpful while on vacation. I'd come in from a day of shooting, download the photos to my computer, then add location information and other descriptive tidbits to my photo files.

Photoshop will still read my exif info, even after editing... HOWEVER, the opanda IExif software mentioned here, will not read it when posted on the web if I've edited. If I just resize and post, it's still there.
