Hi!
I'm working on a layout that is a combination of graphic and paper style. I'm having trouble deciding what to drop-shadow. Are there any guidelines for combining styles? I'm especially unsure about the doodles.
I apologize if this has been addressed before (feel free to point me in that direction).

Here is a link to the layout I'm working on.

Stacey Jewell wrote an article about this: Combination Layouts. (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/articles/combinationlayouts_sjs.shtml)

You might also take a look in the Fandango and Art Journal galleries/forums for ideas.

It's a good question - I'm still trying to get comfortable with this style.

I love mixing! The best explanation I can think of is pretend you are doing a paper scrapbook page with the help of photoshop. You might blend some pictures together or add text to a picture, but then you'd print it out and add your embellishments.

I think the page you've done is more fandango though where it has the doodles. I like to think of doodles as more like rubber stamping on a page, or stickers, or drawing with markers.

thanks Kristen, the article was helpful!
Marilylyn's Mommy, your suggestions are great. I wasn't sure about using a drop shadow with the overlay, but it looks much better without. Problem is, even when you drop the shadow to 0 on PSE3, the drop shadow still shows :(
As far as the doodles, I'll have to play around with them more later when I have the time.
BTW, I'm not even sure what fandango means, I'll have to do some reading up over here!
