Oh, Lauren this sounds wonderful! But the time is not great for me (generally getting boys to bed then)... would you be providing the inspiration in the forum after the chat? (In order to make it Gimme at 8 on Thursday I have sneak around..."honey, I have to go wipe off the table, honey I have to go blah, blah, blah....lol)

Cool. So this will be Thursday 2pm for us in NZ?

Lauren
11-05-2006, 08:25 PM
Yes Fiona - 2pm Thurs and I will have to get us a gallery where I will post the inspiration - no time limit for this challenge so no pressure to get things done at any particular time - of course some of you may just choose to chat during the actual chat time - and scrap later - some may wish to scrap and not chat !!- I dont mind what you do - no pressure - just fun - and scrapping of course

Sounds like fun ! It's a bit early for me though - the babies are still up then, so I won't be able to participate in the chat part. But if it's posted in a forum I am so with you afterwards :D

Today Ive chosen a scraplift as inspiration.
This layout by Sharon ( aka Shazzt) - http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=141543

I think this is a super layout for many reasons - I love the varitey of shapes in it that you can gain inspiration from - there are the curves - the rounded rectangles - the grid shape design within the main layout design - the use of the cut out dots on the sides - also the colours in the layout really reflect the tone of the photos too -Also there are several photos - lots going on but still room for journalling - so thats your inspiration for this week - create a layout using sharons "lets fly a kit" as your inspiration - you dont need to create something exactly the same - but use some part of the layout as your inspiration - tell us in your description what part of the layout inspired you .
We have a gallery just for this chat - http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=3531 post to the gallery any time you like or leave alink here and post elsewhere - there are no deadlines - no rules - you dont have to use any particular kit - just use whatever you already have - there are no prizes and posting bonuses and no freebies - but you will get a layout done!!!- and you might stretch yourself into a new direction

Rats - I totally missed this!!!

I will try the scraplift thought - what a MAGIC layout (of course) to scraplift!

I hope my life gets back into gear when we are finished our building project - I really cannot handle the mess, disorganisation and NOISE anymore!!!!

Here's mine Lauren. I definitely did NOT knock this one out in record time, but I learned a lot doing it. It's ironic, I've had Photoshop for awhile to do photo cleanup for my photography hobby and freelance work, but I've never come close to tapping into what it could do until now.

Here's my scraplift of shazzt's layout... I really love the little cutout circles in her layout (such a simple little detail which really adds a punch). I stayed very close to her design in my "lift". http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=145131&nocache=1

Here's by version of Shazzt's great LO - I haven't tried to do cut-outs yet although I do remember doing them quite by accident in another LO of mine awhile ago - I just can't remember how I did it!

This week- the inspiration was LISTS
I posted several List style layouts - and we discussed how we could use lists in many different layout designs and themes - a few list layouts are "listed"(!) below.

OK guys - bad news. Lauren called me this morning to say that her internet connection has died and she cannot log in anywhere! So chances are, she is not going to make the chat tonight (unless NZ Telecom get their act together - which knowing them is unlikely). She asked me to pass on her apologies. Of course, there is no reason why you guys can't run the chat without her and pick an inspiration piece to work on during the week (maybe "things that really tick me off  " might be appropriate!!) LOL. I know she will be gutted to miss this one!

Here is a range of layouts that use circles - sometimes not in ways you would expect - to make a great layout

I enjoyed the chat last night (hope Hannah's feeling better today, Lauren) and would love some feedback on my layout using circles and the inspiration pieces. Circles are sort of "out of the box" (lol) for me but I kind of like how this turned out.

There will be no chat today as I have to go to Matthews school assembly where he is getting an award -
I do have some inspiration for you though -
I just made 2 different types of calendars - you can see them in the gallery
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=152526
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=152527

There are plenty of other calendar styles in the gallery too
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?limit=&si=calendar&x=18&y=8

How about I challenge you to make a calendar -
You could do one as a single page layout too using a grid style - the 12 squares around the outside and a central photo - something like this http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=20266
but putting the montly grid in the 12 outside squares instead of p hotos
Or you could make one on a bookmark, or on a small credit card size thing and print it on a piece of that printable magnet to put on the fridge -
