Whew! Shall we jump right back in with another challenge?
Let's make it a little easier this week, shall we?! I would love to see inspiration from you!!! Go hunt freestyle pages. Find your FAVORITE FAVORITE freestyle scrapbook page (you can look in other places - we get inspiration from EVERYWHERE, right?!), and link it here in this thread for us all to go be INSPIRED. Please describe WHY you chose your favorite page - what about it is so fantastic to you? And how can we translate that into our OWN freestyle style?! :)
Yes, you'll get a little tidbit... Of course nothing like THIS week's tidbit, but a free thing, nonetheless!
The deadline for posting is Sunday 12/3 at 11:59pm EST. :) ;)

Can we pick more than one? Can we pick a website/ad instead of a layout? I don't know if I can narrow it down to one but will try...

Ok this should be easy, I have been studying this gallery for weeks trying to work out what makes these stunningly fandango and my attempts - well just not - and I know the one I want - but just to find it - looking - still looking - well I KNOW it is here somewhere.
Ah here it is Honeymoon Mauritius (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=140735&cat=2943) by Wen2tap.
I like that:
- it has some striking colour but it's predominant impact is from black and white, an awesome balance achieved using a colour photo.
- The love letter framing, just fantastic, innovative, adore it
- there is white space, but you aren't overwhelmed by white space, it definitely looks finished, I never seem to feel finished until there is no white space to be seen.
- stitching, stamping, inking, embellishments, multiple fonts, a number of kits used all in the one layout and yet it looks clean and simple.
Now given I am pretty clear about what I like - you'd think I could come up with a fandango page wouldn't you - but no - next challenge I am definitely going to try again. Wish me luck.

I couldnt narrow it down to a favourite so I will just tell you that my favourite gallery is my inspiration ,
deb cozzi (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=1383&perpage=15&sort=2)
Deb has a brilliant eye for detail & design that is a feast for the eyes.
and here is my effort, I just love the mixture of graphic, paper, with loads of layering, blending, stamps etc.

well I decided to point out one of my own very favourite freestyle pages that I ahve done.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=114315&cat=500&ppuser=44193
I love this because its one of the very few that I doodled on myself and I love all the white spaces and black doodles. I also like it because it incluses plenty of journaling as well.

I love this one by yhalos. It has a black and white feel without being totally balck and white and so many amazing details. Did you see the eyes in the flowers? The title and fonts are so rich and the treatment on the photos makes them feel so artistic and moody. I looked at it and thought, I wish I could do something like this.

I want to give an honorable mention to cheechongfun's layout too. Again, the details really finish it off, like adding the silver Christmas tree and the bow on the word art. Of course the red selective coloring gives it a wow factor. I also like that the photo is still a photo (not altered dramatically) but presented very artistically.

Here's a recent favorite freestyle... MarsOlson's Simple Things (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=141314&cat=2943). I like the way she has combined Suzanne's overlay with Rene's kit to come up with something that is uniquely her own. There is a lot of detail and interest on the page, yet it is still quite simple.

You know what really draws me in? When looking around the internet, you often come across someone's blog... the header on some of these blogs are absolutely gorgeous, not sure if they purchase they, or create them, but they are so stunning, and so Fandango, with swirls, doodles and faded colours, so eye catching, I will continue to look for a site that might sell these headers or one that has some real beauties, but I think you know the ones I may be talking about, Look up at the top of the page, the header is full of fandango things, now I'm off to find an inspiration piece, not just the header...lol
http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/images/ftp_images/Simple/2006/sep.oct/BITSandPIECES.pdf If I cannot post this, it is a magazine site with lots of fun things to do and some inspirational pieces that many of will enjoy, might make, if not will read, please delete it, I wouldn't say it is a competitive site just maybe a sister site??

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=135228&sort=0&page=0&sortby=&sorttime=&sortdir=
I love the funky tilted photo, the plethora of doodles, and the way the journaling sneaks in everywhere! I just love this style. (Though I cannot reproduce it no matter how hard I try!)

Here is one of my very favorites. I love how it pulls you in and really allows the unstated subject of the pictures - I love my child's eyes - to grab you. I will be scraplifting it soon....

Okay, here is a layout I ran across (well, actually I think it was posted in a newsletter showcasing their member's layouts). I love love love it!!!!

Not only the design of the layout, but how she used brush edges on the edges of the photos. The subtle different colors of those brushes, I just .... well, love it!

I like how she used differant size and shape photos too. and the work art is cool too
but my own favorite is
http://www.scrapartist.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=2678&cat=545
all the doodling and the whole balance of it with the white space.

I just found this tonight, as my poor red eyes so exhausted from looking for, once again, misplaced client cheques, (but did find them in my car). Lucky
for you as this digi-scraplift blog has very stunning open space fandango designs, check out baby love kisses, it is on the top right now. There are samples of other copycat versions, and each looks quite different, perhaps we should have a Fandango top 10 faces like we had about six months ago, maybe it could be put together from some of these links? What do you think Suzanne,
http://www.theshabbyshoppe.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=12 Here is another designer creator who loves the Fandango look, now I"M REALLY off to bed, I'll have to further check these pages out myself when I don't require toothpicks for my eyelids,
........or by the way this is Hatti, not Kompressor, wish he'd log himself outta here,

Well after much consideration I decided to use one most of you have already seen from our very own Debb Cozzi. Anytime I think freestyle I think of Debb and I think specifically of this layout. I love how she used the path of her journaling to tell the story.

Window with a view

I love cats and the Upper right corner piece that cheecheongfun
made by combining a brush with the cat is fantastic.
:yahoo:
Possibility

Because the beautiful play with the colors that match the photo so well.

Here is one from another site that I found today and am loving... http://www.designerdigitals.com/ddgallery/showphoto.php?photo=8213&cat=500&ppuser=999 Again I think what makes me like it is that the doodles seem to be part of the story...
BTW I love mariquitas album also!!! Way to go!!!
I have so many favorites in our very own gallery!
If I have to choose one that mirrors what I envision but cannot create in my own LOs, it would be this layout by Phos4us:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/2943/thumbs/Anna_up_to.jpg (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=144030&cat=2943)
Her use of the arrows and the font is too creative. And you cannot beat the subject matter! Adorable!!

I just had a flick through the Fandango gallery and was impressed with this one
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=124247&cat=2943
I like the way the little letters were used to make the title and the use of embossing on the hearts in the corner and under the word "Friends".

One of my favourite non-dsp freestyle artists is Rhonna Farrer. I particularly like autumn memories (http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/cg_main.asp?cmd=display&seed_id=19015)
Things I like: white swirly overlay
brushes on the photo and on stems and burned into the pumpkins
angle of photo and stamped frame
combination of paper strips
curvy, two colour text for journalling
large chipboard element
tag with interesting arrangement of title letters

This is one of my current faves:http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=115819&cat=2943&si=freestyle&perpage=15 by wen2tap.
I like the layout as a whole -
It is balanced, yet niot symetrical.
It is full of details, little touches that catch the eye, such as the coloring in of some of the doodles, yet it doesn't look busy or cluttered.
The photo is very cool, graphic, eye-catching.
The doodles accentuate the entire picture, they don't exist on their own. They are integrated into the layout flawlessly.
The use of color is amazing. I don't know how one figures out this sort of thing, but this is a perfect example of how to use spot color really well.
I guess overall, this layout jumped out at me and pulled me in. I would love to create something this amazing someday.
