I will be making homemade sphagetti...I say homemade, because if I am in a lazy mood, I just use jar sauce; but I have really gotten into making the sauce from scratch, and it tastes sooooooooooooooo gooooooooddddd...!!!

When ALL members of a family (aunts, uncles, brothers, parents) rave about the sauce, then you know its good.......hehehe. Yes, tooting my own horn here...sorry... Now I am getting hungry.

It is only 11:58 am here in CA several more hours til dinner...dangit Stace...you got me drooling. ROFL

Omy Elizabeth, I have to have a recipe? heheh :p

To be honest, I don't use one. :)

(In a skillet) I just chop up some onion(any kind you like--but a good flavored one), brown it/make sure the onion is slightly carmelized.

I then add ground beef (lean, but not too lean) that fat adds flavor. :) Brown that all together with some freshly chopped garlic (very fresh). Once the beef is brown, add in some chopped bell pepper (this adds lots of flavor). Cook just a little, you want the bell peppers slightly crunchy.

In a separate pot I use about 2 cans (16oz+) of tomato sauce -- I have a big family. I add in my oregano, basil, salt, pepper (lots of pepper), this may sound weird, but just a small amount of cumin or sometimes ground chili powder (I really mean small amount.hehe) I then add a small can of tomato paste (for thickness) and sometimes some freshly chopped tomatoes or if you use canned tomatoes use the diced.

Yes, can you tell, I love tomatoes? :)

After the tomato sauce part is all together, I add in my hamburger mixture. And then I let it simmer for about an hour (sometimes not)...depends on my mood. But it definitely tastes better the next day!!!

Sorry so long, but not good with recipes--can follow, but never write them LOL

What am I making for dinner?

Why, Reservations of course! It's what I do best.

If we are what we eat, I am either fast, cheap or easy.........

You guys are a riot!!!

I don't make the spaghetti sauce often, even though we really like it. I am with you 'pileofscrap'..

I have been eating out more lately, just not inthe mood for cooking. But now, I am getting sick of eating out....so spaghetti is the best alternative. :) It's easy, doesn't take real long to make, (if I don't let it simmer). That and mac/cheese(also homemade) and if lazy out of the box: are the favs around this house.

My family also likes my meatloaf, with homemade mash potatoes, either some grean beans or peas...mmmmm. Okay, really need to get dinner going...LOL

Oh, and Margie, I do follow recipes; for cakes, pasteries, etc. Just not 'meals' I like to make them taste the way 'I' want them to taste..hehe. :D

ROFLMBO...that is so funny!

If I didn't have to buy groceries for the rest of my family, I may just eat out more...hehe.

I like to bake, but cooking dinner is not one of my favs. By the time I finish, I don't want to eat...go figure!!!

Im not cooking tonight, its the kids turn to cook. It is a trade off though, that means fish sticks and mac&cheese, lol

Laura, that sounds a whole lot like my recipe for homemade sketti sauce, but I use real tomatoes, not canned ones if I'm really being "authentic"!!! lol. which isn't often. I also add mushrooms (which i forgot to add to the chili this morning, but remember after I went on the corn run!).

Valerie, fish sticks with mac'n'cheese sounds wonderful! At least that won't cause ramifications at 2 am!!!! lol.

I love the cheap & easy comment too, you guys slay me!!!!!

Well Chili is almost ready, guess I'd better whip up some garlic cheese toast, yum!

Here, we are having a roast that I put in the crock pot early this morning. By dinner time it's falling apart. That's the only way my husband will eat it and the kids like it when they don't have to chew for a long time! Oh, and green beans and homemade mashed potatoes.

sweetmommyc

MMMMM, sounds good momy :)

We love roast here. I did manage to fix my hubby a real nice steak dinner one night. But then realized why I like to eat 'steak' out....its to darn expensive. We pay for a whole meal, what one 'good' steak cost in the grocery store.

I don't know who said that eating out is more expensive, but I find I spend more money buying groceries, than what I spend eating out. :)

Oh,and that sketti sauce Stace; you are right; fresh tomatoes would taste so much better, but hard to get unless you grow them yourself....sometimes the grocery store has good ones...but rarely hehe. :)

Off to finish working on dinner!

Oooh, that's the absolute best, done in the crockpot/slowcooker all day long. When it's falling apart is the PERFECT time to eat it! I add some french onion soup mix (liptons) on top and it turns out perfect, or some teryaki is a nice change as well!

Well, it's 7:19, I think i've got the baby down for a bit, and nick has eaten, so has bry, guess I better go have some of that chili, smells good but i've been so busy with the laundry, etc. i skipped supper .... ooops! We are usually good about sitting down as a family but tonite we're all over the place!

Mmmmmm ... chili .....

(secret ingredient is BROWN SUGAR!)

Stace, I use three gravy mixes. Regular brown gravy, onion gravy, and mushroom gravy. The roast cooks all day in it, and it's really good poured over the mashed potatoes!
I haven't had chili in a long time, it sounds good. Did you make cornbread to go with it?

sweetmommyc
04-15-2004, 09:34 PM
OOOOO, I hope she made some cornbread....love nice sweet cornbread!!! :)

no problem :).

crab rangoon (http://www.meals.com/Recipes/RecipeDetails.aspx?RecipeID=28030)

this is the recipe that i use, except that i use peanut oil instead of vegetable oil.

you can find wonton wrappers in the produce section, with the refridgerated stuff like sprouts and tofu.

OMG

That sounds so good. Do you use immitation crab meat or the real thing? Just curious...I bet it is awesome with real crab meat. I will definitely have to try this. Most of my family; excluding my husband the freak hehe :) love seafood.

Thanks for the recipe!!!
