Okay ladies, I searched long and hard for a free page curl plugin and struck gold with this one! Not only is it free and compatible with tons of programs, but it's so easy to use. Just open your photo and click on the filter. You can control size, shadow and orientation with sliders. Ok, i'll stop rambling now. I've attached the link below. Just save it in your filter's folder and enjoy. Let me know what you think!

So ... inquiring minds want to know if it does more than curl a corner of a page. :)

Will it curl a ribbon, for instance?

Is this better than the page curl option in PSP?

Just curious because I don't care for the page curl option in PSP. I don't know if it's the program, or me... not sure if I can get the settings right.

If the two programs are similiar I guess there is no reason for me to add it.

Thanks,
Jenna

I want to know about the ribbon too, have any of you tried this yet?

I agree the page curl in PSP is a bit limited. This looks good and I have just been to get it so a big thanks to fairlady:)
I doubt that it would curl a ribbon though. I've searched high and low for plugins to twirl/twist a ribbon, but can't find one.

Jensturn, I have just given it a try in PSP9- it works fine for the page curl- can adjust the size of curl and choose which corner very easily, but you can't choose the colour which you can in PSP's own curler; so I would say that the PSP one is more versatile.

Thanks for the link. I tried it out on this layout. It is easy to use and adjustable but as Greenfinger said it doesn't have colour choice and I'm not sure I like the gray. cc appreciated.

I checked out your page...very cute! I did notice, though, that you didn't give credit for the page curl action...oops...

I'm not sure I've EVER credited a plugin in a description, unless it was required, or unless I was testing out a new plugin/technique and wanted everyone to know about it.

Hmmmm - we're supposed to do that TOO now?

Also, someone asked about a ribbon curl plug in - there's a thread about 4-8 weeks old that had some information in it about a ribbon plug in. Can't remember which Forum it was in, but it can't have gotten TOO far! :)

I suspect I'm the lone turkey out in the field, but ... here goes ... this is just my opinion: I see many 'digital designers' offering up their 'designs' ... and with those 'designs' they include a TOU ... well ... if 'we' want people to give us credit for our 'work' then why wouldn't we extend the same courtesy? Someone worked very hard to provide the plugin ... and then they were generous enough to 'give it away' for free ... seems like giving credit is the least we can do ... I find it a royal pain to keep track of all that 'jazz', but I know how I'd feel if someone was using something I created and gave to them for free and they couldn't even give me a short 'credit line'.

I don't establish policy for this or any other forum...and often I don't even know the 'written rules', but I do try to follow my mother's advice ... "Treat others as you'd like to be treated' ... so ... please accept my response as a simple person's opinion and nothing more ... in the grand scheme of things ... my opinion is worth what you paid for it ... and know this ... I truly value all the friends I have in this forum and others on this site and don't wish to be offensive in anyway...

Aha, I found the previous 'curly' thread!

Hope that helps.

I think you didn't read the credits all the way... Mars had the credit posted at the end. I'd be amazed if she EVER forgot to credit something LOL.

Also, in PSP, PS, and PSE you can load plug-ins remotely w/o saving them in your system folder. This way you dno't have to reinstall if you upgrade or reinstall the software. Also, if you uninstall the software w/o backing up all those files in your system folders, they're GONE!
In PSP just save it in the My Files>My PSP Files>Plug-ins and it will auto load
In PS/PSE go to Edit>Prefs>Scratch Disks and Plug-ins, click the More button, browse to the folder on your hard drive where it's saved, and click OK.

Wish this one did ribbons! Anyone know a free one that does those? I'm too cheap to buy AV Bros (I would if I was a designer), so I curl and twist mine manually, which takes a lot longer. It's good to know how so I can add variety and make them different, but sometimes fast would be better!

Do you have to install this differently than Grant's Tools. I installed it this way and I can't get it to work. I noticed these files are in the .8bf format and not .atn.

Emma

it is a filter (8bf), not an action (atn), so you install it differently. Refer to my previous post for installation instructions on how to load the filter.

Filters change pixels on an image, whereas actions are just recorded sequences of steps (for instance you could run a bunch of filters while recording yourself, then play it back later to get the same result. PS records these, and that's how the Effects in PSE are made). Grant's Tools work because it calls on things to replay the action that PSE has in its coding, just hidden (leftovers from PS!)
