Have I lost my mind? I just got Paint Shop Pro X this week and I havent really digital scrapbooked too much, as I am a newbie. My husband says I am trying to start out with too much, but I am just dying to learn how to color black and white photos!!

Do you have a link to the tutorial you're using? Or can tell to toggle between what and what? I'm not the best expert here with PSP stuff, but I'll give it a try. :)

Actually one of the tutorials I am looking at is in the actual program. It is saying how to create a mask I guess.

On the tutorial it says to use the selection tool, the freehand selection tool or the magic wand tool to do so. And it shows pictures of what each tool looks like. But I can not for the life of me find ANY of these three tools on here! I am so frustrated I want to cry!!!

Hope I can help.
First, you'll need to have the toobar for "Tools" open. To do this:
-Click on "View" in the upper left of your screen.
-From the dropdown box, select "Toolbars"
-This will open another dropdown box. From this listing select "Tools"
Your tools toolbar should appear.
From this toolbar, you should be able to get to the selection tool (aka, selection, freehand selection and magic wand)
If the toolbar is vertical on the screen, it will be the third icon from the top.
If the toolbar is horizontal on the screen, it will be the third icon from the left.
The icon will look like one of three pictures: Selection is a rectangle made of running ants. The Freehand selection looks like a lasso. And the Magic Wand looks like a magic wand with a yellow and orange burst on the tip. I hope that this helps you.

WOO HOO! The learning curve of all the big programs is pretty steep, but with everyone here at DSP, there's always someone who has the answer. :) Just one of the reasons I really, really love this place!
