I'm assuming that you've booked a meeting room at a hotel for the crop. Is it too early to let us know the location? I booked a room near the Convention Center and figured that would be relatively close to wherever the crop is.
Re Disneyland, OrangeSue is right about this month being a great time to go because local kids will be back in school. We always end up going in December because of visiting relatives, etc., and it's a mob scene. Not long after we moved down here, we had family who could only stay a few days. My brilliant idea was to go on Christmas Day because who in the world would ever go to a theme park on Christmas Day?
Turns out that EVERYONE goes -- it's one of the park's two busiest days of the year. It was the worst day I've ever had -- and this is coming from a woman who chaperoned students every year when the park was full of 8th graders!! All of the children from that family visit are now adults, and our Christmas experience has become the stuff of family legend.

we'll be in the convention center!
and hopefully it will be a good disney time! we went to disneyworld (fl) a few days after christmas and shew! :D

January is a good month for Disneyland. The crowds are usually low. There's always a chance of a sprinkle or two of rain in January, but Disney is fun in the rain too! Keeps more people away. I'd pack an umbrella just in case! My family calls me "The Disney Kid" and I'd be happy to lead a tour on Sunday!
Pixel Pixie
01-05-2007, 08:55 PM
Yeah, me too Rene. I think my family has owned Disney passes from the day my oldest one was born, that's about 10 and half years now. We even own a time share at Disney and live only 10 to 20 minutes away. Too crazy.
Rainy days are a blast at Disney. Just bring a rain poncho or buy one there and wear rain proof shoes. But maybe we'll get lucky and have beautiful Southern California Jan. weather!
Which hotel is the DSP team staying in? Anyone know yet? The Marriott and the Hilton on Convention Center Way are probably the two closest but not the cheapest.
Lauren
01-05-2007, 10:36 PM
I think the team are spread around several hotels in the area
WOW...ALL THOSE TEAM MEMBERS in person in one place!!! Would you stop getting me so excited? Do you want me to sleep AT ALL between now and then? I can't scrap when I'm too sleep deprived! How loopy do you want me to be? Yippeee!!!!!!!!
Thinking about DSP coming to Anaheim causes as much sleep loss as reading a scrapbooking magazine before bed!

You are cracking me up Tara! I can't wait to meet you!
Samara
01-05-2007, 11:19 PM
LOL Tara!!!!
I was talking to Lisa Carter earlier today and I told her I had celebrity status at Disneyland. She said (in her Texas accent) "What?"
A few weeks ago we were at Disneyland and I'm doing some shopping in a shoppe. I hear "OH MY GOSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, MOM, DAD, MRS GUGLER IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Two adorable little girls were screaming sooooo loud that people around all stopped to look and see just who Mrs. Gugler was!!! My MIL was in the shoppe next to me and she came running over to see what all the screaming was about!! The two little girls were students of mine from last year.
I still LMBO thinking about it!!

I am SOOOO excited! I just want to meet everyone and say thank you over & over again for all the help & kits over the past 2 years. I'm still a newbie when it comes to digi-scrapping, but I absolutely LOVE it.:yahoo:
As for Disneyland - Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but I worked there for 24 years!! (I left 10 1/2 years ago - man that makes me OLD:eek: ) Yes the absolute worst time is the week between Christmas & New Years with the day after Thanksgiving a close second. January should be good - they may have 1 or 2 rides closed as that is the time of year that they refurbish. All of the hotels near D-Land & the convention center are great. If you can't get really close, then make sure that they have a shuttle - the transportation system (what system?) really sucks.

Yeah - I'm buying the Lotto tickets too Mandy - not hopeful :(
LOL  - well you gotta be in it to win it...
The truth is that even if I did win, travelling to the US with Rebecca at this age would be a nightmare. I don't know how many hours it is from your neck of the woods, but for me I would have to look at one internal flight of one hour to Johannesburg (and a couple of hours wait), then two long flights - one of about 10 or 11 hours to Europe and then about 7 hours to JFK and then the short local hop... but once again you have to build in the hours at an airport... So (sigh) don't think I could face that with a very very demanding and difficult one-year-old.
Like my new avatar? I figured I had to replace the Xmas one with something...so why not more excitement about the upcoming crop! :)

Hi DSP gals-
I don't have a laptop so I can't join your crop but I'd love to come and meet you all. I didn't know anything about Photoshop until I took your classes which were fabulous. It's thanks to you all, especially Emma, that I will be at CHA debuting my first line of scrapbook products(both digi and paper) for Creative Imaginations. Come visit the booth!

Just to let everyone know - when you get hungry and want to grab a quick sandwich, there's a Subway on the NE corner of Harbor & Katella. The owner is a friend and my daughter Mia (18) works there sometimes when he needs help. (His daughter & Mia have been friends since 2nd grade)

What is this convention all about? I am a newbie, am I going to learn some tips and techniques about digital scrapbooking and how to use CS2? Are there classes?
Margie
01-23-2007, 06:20 PM
this isn't a convention, it's a laptop crop. so, like a paper crop, we just gather to scrapbook together. except on our laptops! the CHA convention is the next day, but it's for businesses only, so it's not part of the crop. saturday we'll just be scrapping and having fun. there won't be classes or a strict schedule, just free, fun time, and lots of chocolate. :D but there will be plenty of us who know cs who will be happy to help anyone too. so there will be learning if you'd like!

Hi there - DSP has some great tutorials to get you started, and they have the best courses/classes on the Internet. You can find these in The Campus drop down menu.

Whilst I am here in the laptop crop section (turning green with envy - dying to be there...) Can those of us not able to get to Anaheim perhaps share an ONLINE DSP Wish-we-were-there crop???
After posting I discoverd Pam's thread for an At Home Crop (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21082)
So for all of you who are not Anaheim-ing - come scrapping with us instead!

Clarindab, you have to have credentials to attend the trade show itself. The crop on Saturday is a fun thing that DSP has set up separately for us loyal customers. You have to register for the crop, though, through the DSP store. (Info is given earlier in the thread and I don't know if it's too late. You'll get an answer to that soon from one of the DSP ladies, I'm sure.) HTH
