Tonight we threw around a couple ideas for future chats and we decided to try to mix it up a bit . . . just chatting, games, learning.
What we need from you is what *you* want in a chat. Then we'll do a little bit of everything and put together a schedule so you all know what to expect every other Tuesday!!
SOO, we have . . .
games . . . trivia, word games, etc.
learning . . . scrapping principals
chatting . . . just chit chat and getting to know each other (maybe a theme for our conversation!)
combo . . . game/learning (like find a layout that follows the rule of thirds, one that uses a certain color theory, proper shadows, etc.)
So, throw out your ideas.
Z and I will figure out how to run them best and then put together a schedule for chats so you can follow along!
Sound good? Any other ideas?? Throw them at us!!
Oh, and as always, we'll try to put together the occasional prop (freebie) and announce a challenge (prompt) with a posting bonus at the chat!!

I would love some style learning or tutorial chats - like trendy new style we could all learn!

Hi Beth, I would be most interested in tutorials, learning/practicing a technique. I attended last nights chat but was having trouble with my mouse (or maybe it was the user!) and I missed your memo freebie. What I want to ask is what is the best way to collect the freebies. Also, show do people keep going back and forth between places, or even to scrap, while staying in the chat? Do people open multiple windows? I can't imagine getting a page done sin one hour - I'm pleased as punch if I can finish one in a day! Any tips on how to navigate & learn more from chats? I have taken the tutorial more than once, but it does not address these kinds of issues.

Rhona, check your pm box too. Yeah, I agree, it's very hard at first to get used to chats going so fast sometimes. As to scrapping while you chat, what generally happens is some chat, and some just leave the window open but shrink it, and scrap. Then when they're done they post it, and bring the link back to the chat to show it off. Those are quick croppers though! And they may tweak their layout before they print it, or add journaling later.
I think when dsp first opened and didn't have so many members in chat, the quick crops were popular. And we do get asked for them occasionally so Beth and I wanted to know if that was something you all wanted to do.
Navigating chats - well, there isn't much control each person has. You can, during a chat, click on the little "paper" icon at the top of the chat box and it brings up the dialogue as text. Click "select" and it selects it all. Right click, copy, and you can paste it into a document to read later if you want to save it. Also note who the host is each time you attend a chat and you can pm that person with questions after the chat.
I don't think people open multiple windows OF the chat itself, if that was a question. Or at least I haven't tried that.
The best way to collect the Prop freebies is to attend the chats! The best way to collect the Prompt posting bonuses is to participate in the challenges we post in chat and afterwards in the forum.
Also, the items might be in the store, but if they're not pm the designer and check with us.
Thanks!

I wonder if there is anyway we can do a relay race chat! You know like each person gets an element and we put a LO together? I don't know if that would work but it could also be that throughout the chat at different times a certain thing gets called out and whoever has that element gets a prize? If there are a lot of people in the chat we could do more than one LO - like teams - first team to be done wins a bonus?
Ok this probably doesn't make any sense. Never mind LOLOLOLOLOL

Dear Beth
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I discovered one reason I was having problems downloading the prop was that I had my pop-up blocker on! I am not really interested in quick chats as I am a slow scrapper and am pleased as punch if I get a page done in a single day. I think I will just sit in on chats for awhile and look at the gallery to see what kinds of things people do and see if I get the hang of it. Thanks again, rhona
