Have there ever been any layouts done to help a cause. In other words, I had a family that lost their home. If I could collect pictures from friends and family and posted a thread to get some help putting together pages. Have people sign up and those that did privately send them the picture and they can generate a page (specified size). Has something like this been done before? Just curious.

I know if something like that was

I think that this is a wonderful idea. One person had people scrap her wedding photos and made a contest out of it. I know that another challenge is about to start along lines similar to this one. Feel free to start a thread...the people here LOVE to scrap! :) I think the family would love and appreciate a scrapbook like this as well.

Looking forward to hearing more about it!!!

It was Paula (lvg4him) that did the wedding challenge and it was tons of fun for all involved! She actually chose a kit and a font for everyone to buy and use so that the album would coordinate...then people signed up for pages, she sent everything out and gave us a deadline. She did turn it into a contest - - she chose her 10 fav pages and then we voted for one. The winner got a $20 gift certificate for the store. You wouldn't have to do that but prizes always entice people to participate!! You should PM Paula and she could give you all the details about what she did.

That is a great idea, I think you would get plenty of participation on this site.

The Joey-bear challenge (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20570) going on right now is sort of like this. I think it's a wonderful idea!

It's a great idea. I'd do it for a page or two w/out getting a prize. It is a meaningful gift to a family that has lost so much.

Very kind of you!!

Hi Suzan, you have a wonderful idea for the digital scrapbook for a cause.
My boy and I once attended a scrapbook session with the boyscouts/church to put together a scrapbook for a family who lost their daughter. This was done by hand the older way. Your idea would step this up.
I did see on another source scrapbooking for cancer patients.
Good luck with you idea.

I participated in this exact same type of cause (on another site) for a little boy with serious medical problems. Seemed to require a great deal of coordination and clear communication and organization, but it was a huge success! A free kit was provided for everyone and pages were contributed in a certain size with certain themes. Journaling was provided by his Mom. Mom scanned, others distributed, same-themed photos to scrappers with brief journaling notes.

It was a wonderful experience! I believe others contributed later and printed the complete album for the mother and son/family. *His identity (details) remained anonymous.

Since scrappers are a generous group, this is a perfect activity or service/donation to offer...at least in my experience, there were sooooooooo many volunteers, too many, actually!!!
