View Full Version : Color Scheme Challenge - The Great Outdoors!

I want to make a kit that is suitable for scrapping outdoors - from kids playing in the yard to grand scenery. I'm not thinking particularly seasonal, though, so maybe just some grass or ground covering colors, maybe some kind of blue tossed in for the sky, and some neutrals, just anything outdoorsy/Nature oriented. What colors would you use to scrap photos taken in your yard or favorite outdoor place? If it's not green and blue that's fine, show me that too!
I'd like to see five or six nicely coordinated colors that represent landscapes - I don't need the numbers as I just use my eyedropper tool when I grab them. Post to the Color Scheme Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2379) by January 23, that's two weeks.
As always, if I pick your color scheme, you win the kit and any extras I make for it, and almost always you will get it before it's available in the store even.
Whatcha got for me this month? THANKS!

I took a tour of my outdoor photos for the last few years to see what color tones keep turning up. These are the colors I would choose for my photos.

I just HAD to do a few more of these because I LOVE the outdoors...it's hard to pick just one scheme that represents it to me...
This one was inspired by a beautiful Misty Morning on the Lake...

This one was inspired by our backpacking trip through the woods...everything looks so rich in the shadows of tall magestic trees...

OH. MY. GOODNESS. I'm MORE than super thrilled at all the color schemes I see this time! I am going to use several of them, I know it! And when I do, you know I head back here to give it to the poster, whenever it is.
Now. This time. The outdoor kit. Yeah. Well, there's just one problem. NO, I did one! And yes, it's definitely an outdoor kit. BUT (there's always a BUT, isn't there?) it's probably not at aaaaaaalllllllll what you expected. Because it's not what *I* expected! I'll still do my traditional "Z style" outdoor kit, hopefully soon, but I got a whim and got silly with this one.
Imagine this catchphrase:
"Do you use expensive graphic design software to create beautiful scrapbook layouts, but really want that Cheap Sticker look?"
Uh, yeah. Well, that's what I did. Digistickers! Call me crazy; I'm sure you have all done before.
See my madness here (http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/7416/49kgardenstickersdo9.jpg). What's fun, is, you KNOW with digital, you can have ALL the stickers you want, and NEVER run out! That really just cracks me up!
Now, by the time I finished laughing at myself, I realized the doggone things made for quick and easy (and rather cute, if I say so myself) layouts! The stickers have small drop shadows on them ready to go, making them look thin like paper stickers, so you don't have to mess with adding any.
See layouts I did with these here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=160461&cat=518) and here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=160460&cat=518). They really did come together so quick and easy, that I think in spite of me being silly making them, they might be a hit! So see what you think!
The color scheme I used was posted by Katfox (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=157993&cat=2379), so of course katfox gets a copy of the page kit and the alpha set I already did to go with it. I haven't done the add on pack yet, so you'll get that when I do, okay katfox? I'll remember. And I'll do a BOGO challenge in Feb with them for everyone.
NOW, since that was HARDLY the result everyone was expecting, I want to make it up to you. I'm going to the color scheme gallery and choose three other posters, in addition to katfox, to choose any one product of mine. You may choose the sticker set, or you may choose any product of mine in the store. I'll have a few new ones in, in early Feb, so waiting to see those is fine too.
Katfox: the set I'll pm you with, and choose any one other product of mine

Look through my products in the store or wait until my Feb ones go in if you prefer, then let me know what you pick! THANKS so much for submitting all these WONDERFUL color schemes - I think they will keep me busy for a while!
Oh! You know what!? I offered three of these sets to Pam this weekend for the Anaheim Bosses Away crop chats - so check those out to see if you can win them, and another sticker set too, for that matter! Pam has lots of designer goodies to give away from us designers who couldn't make it to be out there with you all in Anaheim this weekend! Check all that out HERE (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=438)!

I heard from Painted Ranch, are the rest of you waiting until tonight/tomorrow to see the Feb choices? Sorry, I guess I should have put up previews of them. I didn't think of that and now I'm at work and won't be home until after midnight when the new products go into the store. I hope you find something you like!
