I have recently purchased a laptop and am wanting to do more digi scrapping and to go to traditional paper scrapbooking crops and just do digi pages. I have gone to one and was very frustrated because there were others with curiosity about the digi scrapping which is fine, and then I got negative comments about how "they (other scrappers)would NEVER  do digital scrapping and would never give up paper scrapbooking.
I currently still do both paper and digi scrapping and was curious as to if any of your go to the regular crops to digi scrap. I enjoy going to socialize between layouts.
Just curious.

Ah, I never attended crops when I paper scrapped so I don't do it now - but I would be more inclined to NOW because all I would need is my laptop. Lot easier to haul your 'stuff' around! As for hard core paper scrappers, (which I was one..lol), I have never really understood the resistance to it. Scrapping is for memories - be it digital or paper.
Though I admit, I do miss the feel of paper - but would I go back? Nope.

Yep - I have a friend who is a CM consultant, and she doesn't mind me bringing my laptop to her monthly crops. Now that CM sells digi software and stuff, she really doesn't mind, even though I don't use their software. I will occasionally buy an album from her.
In fact, I'm going to a crop tonight - let's see - laptop, check; EHD, check; new kits d/ed - oops got to d/l a new kit.

Maggie & Melanie, thanks for responding. I agree that the packing is a WHOLE LOT lighter for digi scrapping when going to a crop. I am attending a crop tomorrow and will probably take supplies for both as I have an album started for my nephew done with paper that I need to fiinish up. I also am a rubber stamp addict too and make a lot of cards so I will probably end up using the rest of my paper supplies on cardmaking, etc. I will probably digi scrap some tomorrow at the crop too, but eventually will probably only do digit scrapping.
Have fun at your crop tonight Maggie.

Our MOPS group does a scrapping afternoon once a month. I take my laptop & work on my layouts. Some people are interested, some people aren't. Most of the negative comments I hear are from people saying they don't want to learn the software or could never do something they couldn't touch. That is fine with me. I usual respond saying I could never paper scrap because I can't bring myself to cut up my photos & the pretty papers, not to mention I lack the patience to bring out all the stuff & then have to put it all away. :)

Just this past October, I met Margie (DSP CEO), Kim (DSP designer), and Nancy (fellow DSPer) at a traditional crop locally. Each of us had our own laptop, and the store even let us use tables with holes for the cords! Nobody really said anything until the end, when a few were interested. But they also said they could never do "digital". To each his own, I say. I had a great time! Especially meeting DSP celebs!

The only crops I've been to since going digi almost 2 years ago have been at Amanda's and those were laptop crops which have been a ton of fun! However I have been invited to a crop next month and will probably be the only one on a laptop-I'm kind of looking forward to it-I'll have to let you know how it goes!

I miss attending paper style crops. I was thinking of calling the LSS that I used to haunt and seeing what they'd think if I came with my laptop.

I had a good time Friday night and got one layout completed and two more well on their way that I then finished yesterday - they are in my gallery.
Two gals barely finished one layout a piece - one was a 2 pager so I guess it could count as 2 but she was working on them at the same time. Another lady was doing a 6x6 with minimal elements so she got a bunch of pages done - but she was only using one photo per page and not journaling on every page.
So, what I'm saying is that I feel like I can get easily as much if not more than the paper scrappers done when attending crops. And I'm not constantly asking if anyone has an element that I can trade for since I have so many kits on my laptop - I can just recolor or adapt an element if I don't have one readily available.

I still go to crops and paper scrap, but I have a good friend that takes her laptop - I am envious of the speed of packing and unpacking! One day if I get my husband's old laptop fixed up I may do that...but for now just paper scrapping there, and digital at home. I think people who say they never could are probably afraid of the computer in many ways and the time it takes to learn the software, but I'm sure they still think what you do is pretty cool!

My cousin is a CM consultant and does exclusively paper scrapping....but she is the first one to "ooh and ahh" over my digi layouts!! (She is envious because she has small children and doesn't have time to learn how to use the software.)
I still do paper scrapping at home because I have all the supplies already, but I'd say that I do about 80% digital and 20% traditional scrapping these days. Digital just offers way more options with photo manipulation...I'm ADDICTED to it!! ;)
I used to go to my cousin's crops, but not since I started digital (I'm too lazy to pack it all up, haul it there, pack it up & haul it back home and inevitably whatever I need the most is what I left at home)....but you guys have given me an idea...I have a laptop, so why not???
THANKS!!!

When I used to paper scrap with groups we would talk about ideas for layouts, papers, etc. and give each other feedback part way through. The group I meet with occasionally now is about 80% digital, 20% paper and we still share ideas and feedback. Now sometimes we look at a monitor and sometimes at paper to do that.

i go often! i've gotten responses from "no way would i" to "will you teach me right now"! same with paper though. if they walked into a laptop crop, they'd get some of us saying "no way would i use paper". i'd say it! so i can never feel bad if they do the same. best advice though, is take your printed pages! that always amazes people!
