Now I don't know that much about Picasa, but that I like it a whole bunch!........there is a problem though.... when I open picasa on my puter most of the png's look like some kind of abstract art!! Some of them are pretty cool looking but I really really really want to see the original pic that I downloaded!!

I wish I knew! 90% of the items I have open just fine, but certain png files just don't display properly. I can usually get a general idea of what they are from the file name and kit they're with, but it is a bit of a pain in the neck! If anyone can solve this, I'd love to hear how!

Unfortunately Picasa does not display png format files correctly which is a pain in the proverbial. You can use the contact sheet that came with the kit (which should be a jpeg) to get an idea of what is in the pngs. I have switched to ACDSee to catalogue my digital supplies purely because it does display the pngs correctly.

Well darnit anyway. One of the reasons I downloaded picasa is the fact that they have 247 mb of storage for the online albums!! They say that you can hold 1000 pictures with a pixel size of 1600 X 1600. (I think) Now that's a lot of pics!
Anyhoo not to get off topic here.:p I have printed off all thumbnails of my kits and put them in a three ringer binder......so in case the pics look to abstract and I can't make heads nor tails of it. I do have backup!:)
Thanks for the input Sharon!

Hattitude, I tried the one you're linking to, Photoshop Album, but can't get it to recognise pngs only jpgs. I'd be grateful if you've got any ideas on what I'm missing?

Just a note of caution - people have found that Photoshop's products with organizers bog down after awhile and then people switch to ACDSee.
i was just about to post the original question about the pngs in picasa...especially i find word art is just a black and white and that is annoying cause even with the contact sheet you cant know which one to open is the words you want.....so i am very interested in this aCDsee can you tell me about it...is it easy to figure out??? and it does the same thing as picasa??? thanks, bobbie
well, i downloaded for a trial the acdsee and it is taking all night to find all my files...guess i do have a lot of files! lol....so anyone can give me a few pointers on how to use this program would be much appreciated...also do i now get rid of picassa???

I have been using ACDSee Photo Manager for a while.
Some of the good things about it:
Views the png's and can even change the background of png's so you can see your white pngs.
Can handle a large amount of images that are in our digital scrapbooking kits. Other organizers can't handle that many.
Allows me to organize my kits my way.
If you are interested you can read a Getting Started Tutorial at www.digiscrapinfo.com. My sister and I have been helping out users and have a forum there also on this. And there is a free trial too so you can try before you buy.

ACDSee can also view fonts too. My sister just posted.
To uninstall Picassa, just go under Start - and the uninstall area...
We have links to all our tutorials here at DigiScrapInfo.com (http://www.digiscrapinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=324)
thank you sisters.....wow....so much to figure out...guess i am not leaving the house today...lol...thanks so much for linking me to this info and for your site.... i may be getting back to you if i get stuck...

There are some options with PSE Organizers -- you can read about them here (http://www.digiscrapinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2133#2133) -- and check out the last link in that thread. It has some other ideas for optimizing PSE's performance as well as solving PSE's organizer issues

I'm confused, is this in place of all PSE5 or just the organizer part?

acdsee photo manager can do what PSE's organizer does, but without the bogging down.
So I think you understood correctly. you can do some photo editing.....but the digiscrapping gets done in something else like PSE5 or ACDSee Photo Editor

oh yes! I just did this in ACDSee Photo Editor over the weekend - it's very user friendly & makes text on a curve very easy!
(and ACDSee Photo Manager is the preferred software for organizing - and it also edits photos)

Yes with their Photo Editor. ACDSee Photo Manager has some great photo effects though! I'll be doing more with that too.... when I get you all going! lol
The extraction was just some eraser work :)
Thanks!
