View Full Version : What Kinds Of Kits Would You Like?

Stacey

I'm getting ready to start making some new kits for the DSP store; but first I'd like to hear what YOU, the members, would like to see available. Are there any kits you'd like to see more of, or kits that aren't available now that you'd like to see in the store? What makes you decide whether or not you'd like to purchase a particular kit? Tell me what YOU want! All suggestions will be taken into consideration!

I like kits with unique elements or themes. I can combine kits I've already purchased or downloaded and find paper and eyelets - and I can colorize. But when a designer has added special touches (folded paper, unique elements or ribbons or lace), I'm more likely to buy. I also like the kits where word art is a part of the kit (doesn't mean it has to be used, but is there). Just posting my humble opinions.

Thanks for the great suggestions, Pam! Anyone else have a request? Are there any themes you'd like to see more of?

More military style. Military heroes, adult brother themes, can you tell I'm making an album for my brother for Christmas? lol

pets - all kinds from dogs & cats to hamster & lizards
friends - teen parties
band - choir - music

I would like to see unique items in kits too. Plus more torn paper - I hate doing that so if it is already I am all for it.

I would love an elegant, sophisticated wedding kit for a non-traditional wedding. When my husband and I got married, it was the second wedding for both of us. We had a very simple ceremony in a chapel and a very small, elegant dinner with immediate friends and family so we didn't have all the traditional showers, reception, attendants, dancing, etc. How about some vellum, some torn vellum, some very soft, delicate lace, some satin texture, some wordart, some soft floral designs, along those lines.

Our Wedding CD will accomodate all types of weddings. I'm using it right now for my sister's wedding.

k, here's a thinker for ya! my husband and 4-yr-old son rode on this flying go-cart contraption! i have pics but no idea what to use for that! seriously, it's a go-cart looking vehicle, with a parachute attached to it. so you floor it and go straight, then it lifts into the air and flies! there's a fan on the back that propels it forward and it stays up as long as you go fast. not the safest looking thing, but they sure had fun! what the heck kind of kit would you use for that?? :D

This sounds just like my Elegance kit which is in the DSP store - soft florals, lace, wedding theme.....

DH and I lucked out this year and got to go to the olympics. I am going to purchase the olympic charms found here (Yay!). That will be great for the events we went to.

I have tons of pics of ruins. Something Neo-classical would be great. If there is a kit, could someone point me in the right direction?

Hi DecSanta, I posted a kit called Passport to Greece. :) http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=836 It has 4 backgrounds with marble and grecian column achitecture on them, luggage tag, polaroid mats, and leather accent strap and photocorner. :) Hope this is what you are looking for. :) My favorite part of this kit are the papers. :)

Themed layouts that are based on childhood songs, poetry or classic stories - like a "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" theme, for example, or "Mother Goose" theme. I'm thinking of doing my daughter's album in something like this, with an overall theme.

I want to applaud some of the new kits you guys have made. It seems like boys are forgotten a lot. Powder blue boy kits do not go well with what my older boys are wearing. I love the older boy looks! There are quite a few of the new ones that I will be getting thursday. I'm so excited!!!!

Maybe I'm a weird mommy.... but I always dressed my boys (when toddlers) in bright reds, blues, and yellows. I guess I liked Osh Kosh a little too much!

Thanks for pointing me to the grecian kit. I'm still working on tweeking the layouts. We took disposable cameras.... and most of the pics did not come out that great. Probably should have not taken them to the grocery store for development either.

I'd love to see lots of different stiching varieties I can resize and colour and various stitching overlays. Especially zig zap stitch so i can 'sew' as well as tear my papers.
A general travel one would be good with travel elements . Maybe oldy worldy (thinking 7 gypsies style) I could use for travel and heritage.

I agree laurens Elegance wedding kit would be great for the wedding layout as would Andy's Elegance I've used them both.

Hope that give you some ideas

I've had quite a few visits to NYC and Vegas, Seattle and others. I don't particularly want to go for the patriotic red white and blue, but would really like to see a cityscape type kit. Maybe buildings, skyline, yellow cabs, trams, pavement backgrounds etc. If was more proficient at PSP I'd give it a whirl myself! :(

Is there anything in the store on an Asian theme? Japanese, or Chinese? bit of bamboo, haiku etc? cherry blossom, the painted art typical of their culture? Origami, paper crafts... exotic fabrics....Sorry, I haven't actually looked yet, but I do have a couple of pics of my daughter in a yukata, and we had Japanese homestays, so something to fit would be nice.

I would like to see theater kits and elements. I have seen the movie kits with the tickets, and popcorn, and things like that. I am looking more for things like stage theater. Curtains, lighting instruments, word art (i.e. Shakesperes- All the worlds a stage.), comedy/tragedy masks, maybe a stage.....I really have a lot of theater pics of myself from different shows that I have done and I would like to scrap them for an album. :)

I'd like to see a couple of things, the first being some more layouts, ploppers, etc., with more masculine themes. Some more serious papers and elements would also help with expanding the limited options that often seem to overwhelm the scrapbooking world. Cuteness is nice for a while but a little goes a long way and it's very difficult at times to find everyday themes without the cute elements, colors, etc. running amok. A scrapbook page can be attractive and fascinating and still be dignified.

In addition, a very basic information sheet would be helpful with the many excellent cds such as the scraps series. These are full of great backgrounds and much more. Basic use information would greatly increase the value of these cds. There are samples and/or contact sheets with most of these cds, but a brief bit of written information discussing recommended ways in which to use these elements would be extremely helpful

This is definitely not meant as criticism, as this site has the very best scrapbooking supplies and information of any place I've found throughout the internet.

Thanks for those comments Stephen - Ive been adding masculine themed page kits to the store on a regular basis - as I am a mother of 2 sons and know how hard it is to scrap for them compared to my daughter. ( You can check out easily the more masculine kits by going to the boy/masculine category in the store, and it will bring up those themed kits without the distraction of the cutesy girlish kits!!!!
When you talk of information sheets - are you referring to perhaps mini tutuorials ( these could be inserted perhaps as text files on the cd) .

Thanks for taking time to get back about this. I'll check out the boy/masculine category as you suggest. About information sheets, a mini tutorial or any sort of brief text file would be great. What I found with the Scraps of Style Heritage and Scraps of the season/Winter Wonderland was that I kept getting the cds out and spending lots of time looking through the folders, as the backgrounds, etc., really are among the nicest I have ever seen. But, the most I was actually doing was using a background here and there to make a digital page without much else on it except my photographs. There seems to be so much else on these cds, that it's a shame to not take advantage of it. One stumbling block that I encountered specifically (and this may be something that only I have found) is that the thumbnails are, naturally, all the same size when viewed on the screen. Yet, until I knew specifically what the various elements were for, it was difficult to distinguish from background pages and tags and any other solid element. To most people this may seem almost too simple to clarify, but to someone just starting to use files from a cd, the identification of exactly what these files are for would be of enourmous help. Perhaps a brief text file that briefly but clearly spelled out what folks generally used the different elements for would make it all clearer. In any event they are all great elements and any information to speed the ability to use them would be a good thing.

I'd like a wooden alphabet/numbers block kit PLEASE with a cherry on top!

Remember those wooden alphabet blocks that are red, yellow, blue and green around the outside and have a letter/number on them?

Well, I want to do a baby album featuring all 3 of my kids together. Not a separate album for each kid, but one album with all of them in it. Example being a birth picture of each one, all on the same page. (I'll confess, I've recently gotten to finding pictures of them at the same age, and then lining them up so I could compare how they each looked at the same age. It's very interesting to me) And I'm not a pink/blue person, so I'm looking for something that covers both boys and girls at the same time.

It needs to have a block alphabet and numbers in it, so you can spell out their names and birth years and page titles. Also coordinating backgrounds using the same colors and mats for journaling. Maybe some elements too like ribbons and buttons. Not sure what exactly. I want to use this kit for more than just the "baby" stage, KWIM?

I've been trying to make my own stuff, but am failing miserably. (Except I did get a nice striped background made!) Now I've resorted to buying some blocks, spelling out their names, taking a picture of it, and then I'm going to make a cutout of it and see how that looks, LOL!)

Hope I'm not asking for to much :o

I'm an archaeology student and have lots of excavation pics that need scrapping and was wondering if there's any archaeology related kits/elements out there. I mean with not just the standard little boy dirt and mud stuff but mud, sand, different tools used in archaeology (shovels, trowels, brushes) etc... Maybe also things relating to flint and pottery (I'm specialising in european prehistory).

**thanks**

I live in NJ and my son has attended many bar mitzvahs and yet I see no kits. Perhaps a kit for this special birthday could be added.
Thanks
