Help with PSE

Sorry I haven't visited much lately but school has kept me busy along with a project making 30 rolodex cards for a swap!

I'm trying to take a photo and give it soft edges and I've done it before but can't remember how. It's a pic of my grandma and her newest great-grandbaby and I want a soft look around the edges.....I found a circular vignette (or something like that) but it cut too much of the picture out....

Anyone have any advice for me??? I'd appreciate it!

You can get a similar effect by doing a selection around your photo and adding a very large feather to it, selecting the inverse (ctrl-I) and deleting.

I almost have it - this is an incredible hassle (whining) as I know I've done it in basic programs like PictureIt or others in the past by pushing one button.......I don't quite get the selection thing as I want the whole photo to have the soft edge otherwise the baby won't show up in it.....but I'm getting this grey shadow around it now when I want it white.....patience, patience....I'm still trying!
