I loved doing the freebie up front when we did the challenge a couple weeks ago, so let's try that again!!!
Here is your inspiration piece. And I say that with MUCH meaning. I want you to be INSPIRED by this - don't just use it to flip a photo into... Change it, alter it, add to it, take from it... Use it as whim and instinct tell you! Download by clicking on the image here:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/835/05_O_VictorianEdge.jpg (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/freebies/05_O_VictorianEdge.zip)
Complete a FLIMFLACKING FREESTYLE layout and post to the gallery before Sunday 1/28/07 at midnight eastern.
That is your mission - be inspired! :) :)

Ok, here's my first one!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=159497&page=0
I've got a couple other ideas I'm playing with, but need more time to search for the perfect photos and papers for it. I've got a photo class in about 2.5 hours, so unfortunately I don't have much more time to play right now.
On this one, I just recolored sections of the overlay, then added an inner bevel to the whole thing once that was done. I also added bevel to the word COLORED to give it added impact.

I saw the overlay in the freebie gallery before I saw this challenge so I'd already done a layout with it. How much easier could it get to make a kickin' layout than this???? I'll try and do a more "Fandango-ish" one but I just wanted to post this to say thanks for the gorgeee-ous overlay! You rock, Suzie!

Here's my first try at the Fandango Challenge - quite interesting I must say. I love the freebie. I am working with PSPX and I couldn't get it to change color except that I was able to give it a negative image (hence the white color). Anybody know how to change the color of this type of overlay in PSP? Anyhow, here it is: http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=159839&cat=2943

I know a really easy way to color it. Since it is alreay a separate layer, go to the icon in the layers palette and hit Contol and the click on the icon. That should place marching ants around the entire selection. Then, select the color you want to fill it with. If it's your foreground color, hit Control Backspace; if you want to fill it with the background color, hit Alt Backspace. If you want to make the color a little darker, just hit it again. Hope this works for you. There is a different technique if you want to fill it with a paper or texture.

Here is my submission with Suzanne's Victorian edges overlay. Lots of fun to play with. Definitely looking for feedback. I used filters on the photo for a dreamy look, and used gradients on the overlay. I also can't decide if the second shadowy photo is more of a distration than an addition, so comments on that would be helpful! TFL!

I changed the colour by going to the layer blending options and giving it a colour overlay...then it can be changed to whatever colour you want

This is one of those flukey things that just sometimes happens. I've got the same thing happening with one of my Preserving Everyday layouts. My lounge layout keeps getting replaced by Webfrau's one. No matter how many times I reload it.
I think the only way to fix it is to delete the layout and then start again. Unfortunately this means you lose the comments.
Would love to know if there's a better way.

Tks dilorf for coming forward to claim the LO. i thot it was a virus. ya i too wondered how this could hv happended. I was shocked at first and thot it's kinda of funny to have a baby LO and comments abt kitty...now I can smile away my fear that someone might hv access into my gallery. I hv changed my password :)
gail0423
01-25-2007, 06:06 AM
This happened once to me too, its not a password issue, it's probably because you both gave your photo the same name and the system didn't automatically rename it at upload (normally it would add something to the end...i.e. fandango.jpg, then fandango1.jpg etc.)
I sent in an email - can't remember to who  and they fixed it, but you might try giving it a new name with something totally different and that might work. When we tried reuploading ours with the same names we just kept overwriting the other's photo....it was a hoot, but very frustrating. I just didn't want to delete that one.
I try now to give my upload files names taht no one else would pick. I've seen a few people tacking their user name to the end of the file and have often thought that was a great idea.

tks i resaved the LO in another name and reload it. it works....I got my kitty back. thot i am going to hv to delete that LO with all those precious comments. problem now is i got my kitty LO back but this layout of a baby..now is showing my kitty. seemed like we are linked..???

I've been lurking in the Freestyle Fandango long enough, so here is Pumkin Family (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=160827&cat=2943) which is my first offical attempt at an Fandango layout.
I actually downloaded the overlay before looking at the challenge. I was digging through my edges looking for something to use on this LO and found this one. It reminds me of pumpkin vines - only because pumpkins were on my mind at the time.
CC is welcome and wanted, since this is like I said my first attempt to do the Fandango.

Was there ever a vote for this one and did I miss it?

I'm not sure. This was the first Fandango Challenge I entered. I remember seeing a vote for the previous week and decided that I'd enter.

I downloaded the Victorian Edge. This is my first overlay how do I change it like you said. I must admit I did just put photos in it and I like it that way. But I'm always up to trying something new.
