SHAB!!!!!

Shabby Chic is sooooooooooo soooooooooooooooooo SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hot right now, and it fits right in with the freestyle look... Or rather, freestyle can INCORPORATE shabby chic so beautifully! So. We're going to spend some time exploring the Shab Stuff!

Shabby Chic layouts are characterized by a blend of styles, and usually use soft, muted colors (of course, this is the fandango, so ... um... break the rules if you're so inclined). Shabby Chic scrapbooking was born of the Shabby Chic decorating style; I found this cool article with a great description here: Shab Article (http://www.onlinediscountmart.com/rusticmotif.html#article). Applied to our scrapping pursuits, that would mean... Use tons of stuff! Blend kits, elements, papers, fabrics, colors, stitching, and slightly "aged-looking" text or doodles.

Your challenge for this week is two-part. First seek out a shabby chic layout to share with the group. This can be from DSP (you'll find a ton of great examples of shabby chic style right here in our fandango gallery), or from other sources. Share the link here in this forum so we can inspire each other!!! I love love love doing this!

Second, create your own shabby chic layout. I've made a set of journaling stamps (or title stamps, or frame stamps - get creative!) that I'd like you to use: Fancy Frame Stamp Set (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_86&products_id=4951)

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/826/05_S_FancyFrames.jpg

So, incorporate something from this set into your shabby chic layout, and post your layout in the Fandango Gallery, then be sure to link your layout here in this thread so I can send you your FREEBIE after the challenge ends next Monday! Deadline for this challenge is Sunday 2/18 at midnight eastern time. I'll get to work on your posting bonus and share it as soon as I can get something whipped out! :)

GOOD LUCK!!! This one is going to ROCK!!! HAVE A BALL!!!

Sad to say I will have to give this challenge a miss this week, but delighted to say we are off to visit the grandboys for a week. I am taking 30 Flat Grannies with me:D (my hubby is looking very puzzled and worried:D:D-I wonder what he'll do when I set them up for photos in various places during our journey??:D) Thank you, Suz, for the lovely posting bonus for last week's challenge, i didn't realise there was a bonus so what a lovely surprise (Need to read the introduction more carefully obviously)

Here is one that I found that I think of as Shabby Chic. It has soft pastel colors, a lot of patterns that blend but are not "matchy", ribbons, flowers, and nothing looks new. Slightly worn but comfortable. This layout is by CleleOh at DigiShopTalk.com

I really enjoyed putting this LO together. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=166412&cat=500&ppuser=40285

I really would have liked to have torn the edges of my mats behind the main picture but didn't know how to do that. Anyone have any tips?

"Defination of Shabby Chic" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shabby_chic)
I guess I did not follow the rules very well. Although I do love organized clutter, lived in and worn well, wash and wear, and cabbage roses and bold stripes in bleached out cottons. Old hankies are the vallence in my dressing room and my ottoman in covered in my grandma's old chenielle bedspread. I have been known to use an old quilt for a table cloth and much to my husbands distain my favorite piece of furniture is an old pale yellow dresser I refuse to refinish. So I guess I better go back and do a little ruffing up on my LO. "Be Mine" (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=166068&cat=500&ppuser=28368)
Thanks for the funn challange Suzanne, I'll be back!

I have no idea if I understood this right but here is a LO by Sempson that I came across and fell for.
I really like the colors and the big circles and the photo is so nice.

Maybe even my own last LO fits the description
(this I made for another challenge today so its not my contribution to this one just an example of Shabby LO)

My example is the beautiful shabby chic style found on the layout called, Baptism (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=137409&cat=994), by Corgi Lover

My shabby chic example is also the one I used for inspiration for this layout. It seemed to have the things in a shabby chic style, layers, torn edges, stitches and grungy shab, I used Baby She kit for that shabby look. I hope I got the right idea.

Here is my lo

Just to let y'all know... I'm going to go through the gallery to collect names from now on... I'm thinking that it will be more comprehensive from that angle. So... If I miss you (and I'll be sending the bonus link out this afternoon), please let me know. :)

HUGS! Thanks so much for playing - this was FUN!
