View Full Version : TNS - Sketch Challenge, Feb
It's very common among paper scrappers to scrap two-page layouts. Digital scrapbookers, however, tend to stick to one at a time. There are special challenges to doing 2 pagers, but when you do create them, they add so much more to your album, and give you so much more room to tell your stories!
Here's the 2 pg sketch for February:
http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/6471/2pgsketch1megbo5.jpg (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=165479&cat=4046)
This provides just the bare bones of a layout, feel free to personalize it however you wish! I'll be honest with you, two pagers are really hard for me, I've gotten so used to doing singles! So, I struggled with mine, but I'm so glad I made it, because it summed up some memories for me in a very special way! Here it is: Family Traditions (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=165483&cat=4046)
Tips:
Create a double canvas, so you can see the whole design. I find it helpfull to draw a line down the exact middle so I don't accidentally chop a photo in an important spot. Then I delete that layer before I post and print.
And guess what!! Magazines like two-page layouts! Be sure to submit them (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21623)!

Great challenge Meg! With the photos going across the middle this pushes us not just doing a 2 pager but getting the right balance with the photo choice too...very clever choice!! I cant wait to get into this one!

Oooh what a great challenge. Funny, even at the end of my paper scrapping, I was rarely doing 2 pagers. So this will definitely be a great challenge.

Oh, I agree, 2 pages are difficult for me also, but this sketch ROCKS!!! As does the layout you made, of course!

I did a whole album of 2 pagers - most of them were journaling on one page and the photos on the other, but I did the photo spanning the 2 pages on at least one of the layouts.
Hmmm- will have to find time to fit this one in.

Any CC is welcome.

I'd welcome some tips about spanning a page. I've only attempted a 2-pager a couple times, and then decided to not let *anything* span across the center - it wouldn't meet up exactly, it would miss stuff, etc.
deb
Hi Deb, check back to my original entry on this thread. I gave some tips for making 2 pagers, one of them being to create a double-width canvas (24 x 12 if you normally scrap at 12x12). Then draw a line down the middle that you can later delete. That way you don't cut anything in an awkward place. If you print the pages out, "cutting" your canvas exactly at that point, you shouldn't lose anything.

Wow...I haven't been active here for awhile. I've just been scraplifting from actual scrap magazine layouts on my own. I decided today that I really wanted to get better at this so I started down the forum list and this is the first challenge I came to. Well, I've never done a two pager. So this is my project for today. It sounds challenging!

I have to say that I don't really have a photo going through the middle. That wasn't on purpose. I am NOT good at cropping pictures and uniformity when it comes to that type of stuff. I still just crawl along in this world of scrapping...trying to grasp all the concepts.

Here is my 2 page sketch. It took me a couple of days before I had it where I liked it. I used some of the great stuff I got from the wonderful contributors of SNL for February.

Well I needed a page in a hurry and this was perfect for my "preserving everyday snapshots" page this month. A number of mine have been two pagers for that challenge and fairly graphic and simple in style - this is much the same.

Boy this is the first time I have worked with a template and it won't be the last. This layout fell together so easily after so many that I have struggled with!
