I really enjoy the digital scrapbooking, but looking for a program or way that I can use more embellishments and such and then get it printed in a hard bound format.

Online is great but once you've seen all your hard work printed in a nice book, it's PRICELESS!

I've used Shutterfly and Picaboo, but they are limited unless someone else knows how to import stuff into them.

I sure hope someone can help. I feel like my hands are tied!

Sassy...

Welcome to DSP.
You don't have any scrapbooking/photo editing program yet, right?
Shutterfly and Picaboo are not scrabooking programs, they are just photobook creators and yes, their graphics are very limited and you can't add to those any scrapbooking embellishments downloaded from the web.
Check out New to digital link

Once you have choosen a software from the list and bought it or downloaded a trial, you can use all the freebies and purchased kits in their endless variety.
Once your layouts are ready for printing, you can upload them to an online printing service as they are without adding their custom backgrounds.
By the way,DSP also offers hardbound books
