Lauren, Fiona (honeymoon) and I have been planning an Auckland crop for a little while and we now have a venue booked and a date:

Sunday 6 May
10am to 4 pm
NZSG Family Records Centre
First Floor
159 Queens Road
Panmure

To cover the room cost, we will have to charge a $5 fee - any money left over will be used to supply essential scrapping goodies (ie chocolate).
I have also asked my sister if she would come along and make us up (she is a Nutrimetics consultant so is pretty good at that sort of thing) so we can have fun taking some "glamour" shots of each other. We will also organise some fun activities to do during the day. Hopefully lots of you can come along. We will show those Anaheim girls how to REALLY have fun! :yahoo:

Please post here if you are interested in coming - we are limited to about 24 people so be in quick!! :)

Attending are:

Yes please - count me in - having never been to a 'Crop' before and as I am also new to digital scrapbooking terminology, I' m not sure what a 'Crop' is or what I may be letting myself in for - be gentle with me.

Me TOOOOOO, try keeping me away!!!.... WOOO HOOO I can bring some flatties (the grannies) as they are on a world tour at the moment!! ( see the grannies thread if you dont know about this or the anheim crop) this will be exciting....!!.....

honeymoon

I'm sure the flat grannies will be very welcome at the crop. Just remind them that  "Red and Black" are the correct colours to wear when in Auckland. (we need all the help we can get at the moment).

shazzt
03-05-2007, 12:25 AM
hmmm - well they are nearly North Harbour colours. Flat grannies - make sure that you use maroon black and white as your theme - both Lauren and I are from North Harbour and we will (hopefully) outnumber the Cantabrians (how are the Crusaders doing again Fiona???). If you need an indication of appropriate colours, please reference this layout:

YAY!!! Make that 3 for North Harbour
Flat grannies remember you only get let in the doors if dressed in maroon black and white!! A scarf will do, so you long as you wave it in the air!!

So feeling a little outnumbered here.... the flat grannies should come in black and white and sport a silver fern (there's some in Lauren's Pacific Paradise Page Kit).

I can't wait to meet the grannies!!! And maybe we should start a countdown.

Julia - I was thinking maybe if we could bring a little something each we could do a shared lunch. Maybe coordinate here. I'm sure there must be SOMEWHERE close that does takeaway coffees (anyone familiar with Panmure??). You know how fussy Lauren is......

webfrau
03-31-2007, 04:41 AM
Lunch sounds a good idea - nothing like a good excuse to bake. :)

As for coffee I'd be pretty surprised if you can get good coffee in Panmure. I've not been for a couple of years, I used to do a regular sewing class there, but it was pretty basic and a bit run down last time I went.

shazzt
03-31-2007, 05:50 AM
Don't tell Lauren there is no good coffee!!!

Donut

Maybe we ought to bake coffee muffins for the caffeine fix!!
Let us know what to bring Sharon that sounds like a great idea!

You all just need to convert to being tea drinkers for the day. LOL

shazzt

webfrau
04-01-2007, 03:32 AM
I'll pass on the margaritas - thanks - could be bit dodgy for the roads I drive! LOL!

Tell you what I'll put Whittakers Dark Mocha on my shopping list - it contains ground coffee beans - chocolate and caffeine in the same mouthful! YUM!

Scour your local library Julia - I have found some really useful books there. I got this book out of the library and found it especially helpful:
Photographing Children and Babies by Michal Heron (http://www.amazon.com/Photographing-Children-Babies-Great-Pictures/dp/1581154208)

As far as books go - Sharon is better than the local library but I have a few too- I will bring along a couple of good photography ones i bought in the US - one Tina recommended called PHotographing your life - and another one which I havent even had time to open yet which is all about exposure. - I also have more than a few mags which I can bring

Lauren
04-05-2007, 02:28 AM
Sharon is going to bring some black polar fleece as a back drop to take some of our glamour photos in front of

Lauren
04-05-2007, 02:28 AM
Also dont forget to bring your albums

Lauren
04-05-2007, 02:33 AM
Erica - basically you just need to bring your laptop if you have one - if you dont just come and hang out and play!!- bring your camera because we are doing some portraits ( you know we NEVER like to be in front of the camera so Sharon is going to force us!!)
Bring lollies because Im a sugar addict.
Bring something for a shared lunch.
Bring your albums if you have any

Thats about all I can think of!!!

Joan - someone might be coming from the south of Auckland who could pick you up- either way - its not far from the Airport to Panmure - and on a Sunday the traffic wont be bad so the taxi fare wont be huge - - anyone in South Auckland???- Im coming from the north otherwise I would offer

For those who are coming to the Auckland Crop you may like to make a trading card - these are 2.5x 3.5 inch card on which you might put a bit of information about yourself or something that represents you - you can then swap your cards with others present at the crop
Print your cards out on card stock and you can laminate them if you like - or not - up to you. Its a bit of fun and not compulsory but the girls who came to the Anaheim crop made some great cards !!- Lets see the local variety!!

littlekiwi
04-16-2007, 07:23 PM

What's the room like? Is it big and cold? should I bring my hot water bottle?
Or do you think we will warm it up with our warmheartedness and welcome?

shazzt
04-19-2007, 04:41 PM
I haven't seen the room yet - I am hoping to be able to check it out next week once the kids are back at school. I would bring something warm to wear just in case (as it is getting colder now) but hopefully a room full of laptops will help warm things up :)

Are trading cards like artistic business cards (with contact details) ie do you make a set the same or are they all meant to be unique - are they any rules - or ideas on how to do these that anyone knows of? I guess I should go google it - but well any info also appreciated.

Edited
OK - have found that answer at DSP of course - if anyone else is wondering here is Ann Marees very helpful info on trading cards (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6876&highlight=artist+trading+cards)

Erica
04-20-2007, 02:40 AM
Hi Toni - my thinking on this (and I might be waaaay of beam here - never having seen one), is that they are 'like' business cards but much less structured and stiff and with plenty of artistic license - be as creative as you like :yahoo: I've never seen any but that is what I thought they might be like and I suppose you can put as much or little personal information as you want on them but the idea I would think is to get communication between the antipodean digi scrappers going!! What a great way to make new friends

Erica
04-20-2007, 02:42 AM
Oops just seen your by-line Toni - going to check it out now - Thanks :)

I think I am going to go with including contact details and maybe a small photo - hope to be able to stay in touch with some of the scrappers I meet there and having a little memory jogger of whose who will help - looks like we will have a good size group coming. I can't wait

Thanks to Sharon and Lauren for organising this

OK ladies - I am hoping to get out to check out the room next week (with school going back and ANZAC Day it just didn't happen this week).
Things you should think about bringing to the crop (if you have them):

1. Yourself!!
2. A laptop if you have one.
3. Extension cord and multi plug box if you have one (I am not sure of the room configuration and power point situtation at this stage)
4. Something for a shared lunch (please advise if anyone has any food allergies/ special requirements)
5. Water bottle (type that won't spill everywhere - we don't want any unfortunate accidents on someone's laptop!)
6. Any albums that you have your digi layouts printed in so we can all have a look :)
7. Your camera!!!
8. Artist Trading Cards (if you have any)
9. Ah yes - of course the grannies - goes without saying (like chocolate) :)
10. $5 for the room (if I can be that mercenary)

(Have I forgetten anything?)

I was feeling miserable and had worked 6 days in a row - never send me near a shop when I feel like that - it gets expensive! I don't regret my impulsive purchase though I think I'll get lots of inspiration from it.

Can it be non-digital? because without a laptop thats mine (with the printers drivers in it) or black ink i have to resort to non digital stuff.

Hey ladies, where do you get them laminated (esp if anyone knows on North Shore), and if you are running REALLY behind, does it matter if they aren't laminated?

Well its getting more and more closer to the crop and Harvey norman has two more days to decide wither or not im getting my laptop back.

In other words, mines in for repair and im getting more and more sure that im using my mums on the day. I don't mind. Why complain when this laptop only takes a minute to get to windows from startup? including login?

My ATC is one sided - I wrote my details on the non printed side and from the state of my handwriting you will be able to see why I digi scrap (the computer is far neater!!) and why it is not a good idea to write these things after a couple of glasses of wine (one or two ... mistakes).

My DH just nods and smiles when I start on about digi this and digi that, I think he's mastered the art of looking as though he knows what I'm talking about and give him his due, he can repeat back to me what I just said verbatum, another knack I suppose. :D

I am so sorry, I am going to have to pull out. I was enrolled for a course, paid up, which was supposed to be a few weeks ago. They rescheduled it for this weekend. I had been trying to find a way to go to an alternative venue later in the year, but all the other courses have been done for the year already in the other locations. And it is a compulsory course for gymnastic judges as our code has changed. I really hope you guys have a great day! and I will be wishing I didn't have to work so hard!
