photo editors

I've been using Picasa to edit my photos. I find it hard to download them into other formats without exporting them back to my hard drive. Otherwise I find it easier to use than photoshop which I' have and would like to learn but it seems so complicated to me.

Basically, what I'm asking is does anyone have any suggestions for a good, free photo editing program that is easy to figure out?

If you are saving a copy of your edited version in picasa it will make a whole new file for you which you should have no problem opening in any application

I am pretty new to digital scrapbooking, but when downloading free trials to choose my software, I tried the free version of fxfoto. I didn't like it as a scrapbooking program, but I do like it for editing photos. It seemed pretty easy to learn. You might try it. It's at http://www.triscape.com/fxdownload.htm.
