Ok...so I use Photoshop to do all my scrapping but I have a nephew that wants to get into it. I was going to get him one of the beginner software packages that includes several kits and such, but would like to actually get him a gift certificate as well to buy some kits that suite him. My question pertains to the software. Can any of these prepacked deals let you add more kits that you purchase later? And not just the same company's addons, I mean could for example could I buy a kit from here and add it to my library of Scrapbook Max? Please help!!!!

Yes,I am sure I have seen some layouts using DSP items in their users gallery and there is also a 30 days trial available,so you can try before you buy.In fact, most of current layout programs with the exception of FotoFinish:eek: allow you to import .jpg and .png files downloaded from elsewhere .
edit:Jane,I mean ....FINISH,not....fusion ;-)

Fotofusion can use png's and jpg's from other sources, in fact I do it all the time.

I use Photoshop as well, but I just bought my daughter the Pixel Magic software in the store. It does come with kits & such, but she is also able to use any of the kits that I've got, you just have to navigate to the folder they're in. I'm still trying to figure the program out, she's actually better at it than I am, and she's 7!! LOL! I'm not sure about adding to the prepackaged deal to purchase them later, that would be a store question, but I do know you can buy gift certificates here as well, I've done that before too.

The beauty of the graphics at DSP is .... it is universally compatible with any software (mainly the software in the last three years) so that it supports our PNGs properly. Our files are JPG and PNG (standard file formats). Hope that helps. :)

How old is your nephew? My 9 yr old uses DIP for scrapping. He doesnt add drop shadows, or anything, but he makes cute pages!

He's also used our Pixel Magic from here in the store. It comes with built in graphics.

He is actually 16 I think so I may need to go with PSE....He has seen me doing my pages (with PSCS2) and loves it...I'm afraid that if he wants to do all the details like I do (my average pages have around 40 layers) I'm not sure the other programs could keep up, that and I don't want him to be dissapointed with the options after seeing what I can do. I really hate buying things for other people...I'd much rather give them gift certificates but he begged saying he had no idea where to start...sooo...here I am racking my brain! Thanks for all the help you all!

Why not download a demo of PSP, DIP, and PSE and let him try them with some kits? Then he might have a better feel for what he wants to use.

Pixel Magic by Digital Scrapbook Place is another option.
