View Full Version : Amazing Race Party
I'm in the midst of planning Tate's big 10 birthday!
we are doing an amazing race party, which I am finding hard to get great ideas for.
It will be held in a hall. We will NOT leave the hall. No running around town, etc (dont want that responsibility).
any challenge ideas??
road blocks??
detours???
thanks!

Ideas....
Different areas of the hall are different countries - printoff flags, pictures, go to a travel agent and see if you can borrow posters. Maybe make it continent based.
Make up some airline timetables, so that the have to work out the quickest route to get from A to B, before they can buy their tickets.
Have PM'd some links to you.
Ireland - Potato and Spoon Race
Egypt - make mummies - either with bandages or with toilet paper
Of course they'll have to go to NZ and since it will be a bit hard to bungy jump in the hall, maybe they could try this.
New Zealand - have to learn the haka. http://www.nzrugby.com/index.cfm?layout=haka
Look forward to hearing more ideas.
Old challenge ideas - pillowcase race, walk from place to place with an egg on a spoon (can't break the egg), find pieces of a puzzle (even if 9 square pieces) and fit them together correctly, fill a cup at the opposite side of the room with a spoonful of water at a time (water source on the other side of the room), complete a math problem.
There could be different tables representing the different countries they visit - maybe with some literature where they have to find an answer to a question about that country before moving on.
thanks!
party is in a week, and i STILL dont know what I am doing. eek!
Ok, I ended up doing the potato race, the mummies, printed flags, tables for diff countries and more. Fiona, I couldn't do the haka for them, cuz I couldnt do it myself! LOL! If I had access to a computer that would have been great!! They are going to NZ but just filling a jug with water with a teeny cup (like Pam suggested) ;)
Heres a bit from the party (its in 3 hrs!)

and whew did this one involve some time. One task required me to count over 1000 beans, and another sort through a HUGE pile of pennies to make sure there were only four 1997's (one for each team) in 800 of them.
Here is the invite/goodie bags and clues in envies/ and a few of the clues out of the envies.
Plus we are doing the blue screen idea for thank you cards. Taking their pics in front of (the teams of 2) and then I'll stick them in front of things like Big Ben, Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, etc for the TY cards.

This sounds so cool and an idea that I will store away for the future.
Can't wait to see the photos.
Hope you've had a great birthday Tate.
Thanks Fiona! It was fun. Here are the thank you cards:
