program question

Im wondering what kind of program would be best to make things like birthday party invitations. Im looking for something thats not too too expensive. and that i could also do digital scrapbooking with. also something thats not TOO hard to figure out. Maybe something with a free trial. Thanks to anyone with advice!

I started with Photoshop Elements and think that it is a terrific program. Version 5 is out now and it is under $100. It has a new feature that includes templates and elements for scrapping. I also think it is really good to learn as it has a lot in common with Photoshop and if you get crazed like the rest of us you may want to upgrade to Photoshop CS3 one of these days. Although it is much more expensive than Elements.
