"Make It Yours" Challenge

This challenge is to inspire you to take an inspiration Layout and Make It Yours!!! The idea behind this came from my good friend mandy@netlive here at DSP. She told me that the magazines consider a scraplift an original if you change it at least 30%...well...this challenge I have chosen an Inspiration LO from our Lovely Hostess of the Next Step...Meg. What I would like you to do is to take only a small piece of that LO and build your LO from that to make a new and unique LO.

To help this make a bit more sense I asked a few of our talented ladies here at DSP to get us started by making an example LO using the LO by Meg (once also known as MommyMeg) as their Inspiration.

What inspired Sandy was "the way Meg used the two narrow, vertical photos which captured the expressions on the faces of her children and the closeness between them"

What inspired Lori was the strip of photos, and how those photos were cropped.

While all of the Ladies chose the narrow strip ... each LO is unique in their own way.

Summary:

Choose one small part or change LO by at least 30% to "Make It Yours"

Use any kit you would like, please make sure to properly credit and also share what you chose to use for your LO.

This challenge will run through 5/31...

Sounds like a bit of learning may go on here! hmmmmm, can my brain handle studying the masters? hmmmmmm? I don't think so soon after this quick cropping weekend but maybe after I recover a little - Of course I'll be back!! this is interesting! I am a bit pooped out after Saturday, but I will try this - all those layouts were just fantastic!

I am so impressed with the examples already created!! Gorgeous! I've edited KY Bumpkin's link and info, by the way, she also chose the strip of photos down the side.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with, and please do explain your process, I'm finding that the most fascinating part of all of this!

First of all...Thank you Meg for correcting the post...

Second of all...LOL Lori...you told me it was doing Double Duty for an OOB and I found that one LO and keeped looking and figured it was the tag...LOL...just call me blonde...LOL!!!

and Third of all...I would like to thank the Ladies who gave these GREAT examples...and though you each picked the same aspect of Meg's Inspiration LO each one is so unique to their own LO!!!

I also can't wait to see what everyone comes up with...and I better go do my LO for this challenge...Have fun scrapping everyone!!!

Some GREAT LO's being posted ... Can't wait to see what every one else comes up with and the whys and what nots...I am almost done with mine...just need to tweek it a bit more!!! The more I look at Meg's LO though the more I see of different possiblities to pick from.

Well...I finally got mine done :eek: (should have had it done ages ago) oops!!!
so much to scrap so little time!!!

I chose to use the way Meg tied her pic...while I didn't use other paper I liked how it hugged the pic so I went with that. I also wanted to give the illusion of the side pics and note were rolled up and tied so I put the piece of twine to the edge...not sure if that is what it gives ??? Here is my link...

Hi!

I'm very new around here and this is the first challenge I'm trying and I've never scraplifted before. If I did something wrong... let me know!! Please! :) Anyway, I really loved the original layout... and all the subsequent layouts! So breathtaking! That narrow band of pictures really spoke to me and as it happened, I was in need of something to do with some pictures I'd taken.

Here is my "own" layout from Meg's. I used the idea of the string around the photo and layers of background papers as well as the mat on top of the lower most background paper. I had fun with this....thanks! :-)

It was so much fun! I first wanted to tie the picture, like Meg did, but my dog ended "out of bounds" somehow!!! (my first Out of bounds too)

Well...I'm back from California...what a long tiring trip, and ended up with next to no scrapping time :( so I am going through major withdrawls!!! Looking forward when I get home from work to some scrapping time and getting all caught up on comments and the threads to see what has been happening, since it all changes from day to day!!!

Yeah Sandy...it was hard not to scrap for 5 whole days!!!! I tried to in the truck but it bounced too much...My parents gave me a truck and 5th wheel, all I had to do was fly down to California and drive it back to Washington, so that is what we did :) , it is an older truck and 5th wheel, but my parents took great care of it...and hey it was free :) and you know how much us digi scrappers love freebies :) ... LOL!!!

Sorry it has taken me so long to post on these last two Wonderful LO's, We went camping over the long weekend and I ended up with ear problems, so I am just getting back into the swing of things...but oh my it is almost the last of the month isn't it... but still today and tomorrow to post to get put into the drawing for prizes...yes I have no shame, but to throw prizes out there!!! LOL!!!
