View Full Version : action for making bows
I am wanting an action that will turn a piece of ribbon into a bow. Does anyone know where I could get an action to do this? I am using PSCS2

Don't know if there is an action for that, but I learned how in one of my DSU classes.
Does take quite a bit of practice, I can tell you that much!
Will keep an eye to see if such a thing exists for PSPX-which is what I use.
since making bows uses brushes like Filter>Liquify and Dodge/Burn brush rather than filters, it's not possible to write and action for it. If there was a way to do it with filters and such, that would be a good candidate for an action. The AV Bros page curl filter can go a long way to realistically bending each section, but doesn't do the whole bow (maybe someday?!) The 311 class taught here covers that in some detail, or 331 for PSP. And yes, it does take practice!!!

LOL - I'll take that one, too. While we are requesting, one for folding laundry would be great!

What Margie said, plus one to brush the dog so I don't have to vacuum so much.:)
As for bows, I have made them with no filters, with the warp function in PSCS2, and now I am experimenting with the AV Bros. Page Curl filter, but honestly, I'm beginning to think it's just easier to hand draw the darned thing and scan the sketch and go from there. Oh heck, just scan the darned bow and skip all of the mucking around!!!! OK, even scanning has it's own drawbacks, like extraction and scanning without squishing, so there really is no easy way to get a bow to look realistic digitally. If there was an easy way, we'd all have been doing it by now, or so I'd think. That type of secret wouldn't be easy to keep.
And yes, it takes a lot of effort and a lot of practice to make the bow look decent, if not passable. Still working on it, and if I really get a good method down, I promise to write a tutorial. But honestly I don't think it's going to happen any time soon.

I made my first bow in PSP a couple of weeks ago, and after 5 hours of working on it decided it was easier and probably cheaper to just buy the dang things. :D

making bows in my opinion is not an action type to do :)
You'll have to be really artistic to draw a realistic one... mine take quite a time :)
Margie - LOLOL!!!! :)))) The same thing!!! And also a couple for chaging diapers and singing lullabies LOL :)

You guys are too funny. I have taken the DSU classes and I still suck at bows. Thank goodness there are wonderful designers who make beautiful bows:)

right on Canay!!! And take the time to do them! Fun to play with and see what you come up with, but sheesh, I don't get paid for it! lol!
I do have to say that the designers here do the most realistic bows I have seen on the web (yes, I occasionally snoop around at other sites). I think that is one requirement they have for someone to become a designer here!
