Babysitter Rates

Just getting a consensus.....can you post where you live (general area) or (in a large city or small town) and what you pay per hour for a babysitter?

Fairly large city in the midwest... we pay $8-10/hour for in-home sitting, depending on length of time, what's required (bath, etc.) and experience of sitter. HTH!

I just asked a bunch of girls this at church yesterday, and they said $10 and hour for 2 or 3 kids is a great rate. Since I have 4 kids and a baby, they said that would be fine, maybe a little less. I can't believe how expensive it's gotten! But they also said that if I don't pay well they'd still not say no: it's better than no sitting job at all.
