Ok - Im REELING -
In it's wisdom (or lack thereof) MS has announced the discontinuation of the DIS range of products. Apparently the photo editor that comes with Vista is all there is. From what I've read, it is a dumbed down version of the DIS2006 Library. The only editing functions seem to be photo retouching.
If you don't have at DIS10 Suite, DIS2006 Suite or the Anniversary Edition I suggest you grab a copy before they become extinct!
Im horrified - no more DIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What will I do - ??????????
Oh no no no does this mean I have to install PS or PSP - I am gobsmacked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring out the SMELLING SALTS!!!!
DIP will not work with VISTA - Im saving up for a new pooter with vista!!!!

Ohhhhhhhhh Nooooooooo! I was hoping Microsoft would bring out a new version soon, something a little more complex, but still DIP easy (kwim?) I have PSP and I just don't want to try to learn it yet. I'm too comfy! This is sad news!

I'm not a DIP user but I think it is sad that this option won't be available any more to scrapbookers and others. Having plenty of competition keeps all of the vendors on their toes!

To use an Australianism, buggar! Just when I thought I was fairly competent using DIP, they go and move the goal posts.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh sigh.....DIP was my first software program and I used it for at least 5 years before I started Digital Scrapbooking so naturally it was what I started with when I first began my Digital Scrapbooking journey. It was SO easy to learn. I really hate to hear this! Maybe they will just come out with something better and just "re-name" it? Or no?

Uh Oh! I guess I'll never upgrade!
I don't know if I'm so sad about this: sounds like I'll have a lot of new Intro students in my PS, PSE, and PSP classes! Yeah, bring it on, Microsoft! I'm ready for you!

Well, at least the DIP we have now will keep working as long as we don't upgrade to Vista. I try to avoid a new upgrade like Vista for as long as possible so that the bugs will be worked out and a lot of software will be compatible with it. But, I know, that sooner or later, the computer will fail and the only option will be one with Vista. I'll hold out as long as I can.

Hey ladies don't get to upset yet. I am a DIP user and just bought a new laptop with Vista in it...I bought a upgrade system when the man writing my order found out what I do with my computer...anyway I down loaded my version of Microsoft Digital Image Suite Plus on the new lap top...and much to my surprise it looks different from the downloaded same soft ware on the XP Media edition version on my 2 1/2 year old PC. When I went to open it up I was surprised instead of a icon with a camera on it I get a folder that has pages on it for a desktop icon. I have jumped right into do LOs with it learning the different changes in the looks of my software..one is the way it loads the pictures...I love it. I can do everything with this on my lap top that I could do before. Not a problem...One wonderful thing that I like is after the first time you do a LO and push save...and tell it where you want it to go...then save as and then email or web copy. After that first time you have done it you don't have to do a thing...when you save all the save in png goes in one file the save as goes into a jpg file and the save a copy for the email and web goes into another file for just those... it is so neat.. I asked my husband what we got on the new lap top and it is called the Ultima Media eddition. It is fantastic...I recommend it you get the Vista on a new lap top and are not really computer techi, that you do what we did, get the extended technical support for 3 more years..you can call then any time and get help. I have called three times this last couple of weeks, I started to put into effect the wireless suff and started to get nervous as they said to take the fire walls off and other things...I was afraid that I was going to screw it up...called the techi and he walked me through it then he took over my computer and checked everything and walked me through putting all the firewalls etc..back like they should be then he checked it again...I apologized for not knowing where everything was and he was so nice, said that is what I am here for...I bet he spent over a hour with me that day. I cannot say enough good things about the service and the technical support I am getting. I am getting very used to the keyboard and have uploaded 3 LOs now with the new laptop. Now I am scaning old heritage pictures into the laptop and it is really cool how they go into the files and how they are organized. I love it and like I said the Digital Image Suite Plus v10 can be down loaded onto it. I did it. So if you don't have that version you might like to run out and get it as it will work with Vista.

It woeks beautiful, in fact there are thngs on Vista that I have never had when I was using it only on XP. The files and folders system is different and I really like that. When you open up your kits for scrapbooking little pages are sticking out and you can see alot of the colors etc. so you don't have to completely open it to know oh yes that is what I am looking for. I am very happy with it.
