In the tutorial found here, it tells me to go to effects to find drop shadows, but I don't have an effects anywhere. maybe my photoshop is just too old? I'm not sure which one it is, but I do know it's Adobe photoshop. I'm not very educated yet about any of this, it was already on my computer when I started learning to digi. So any help out there with drop shadows?? Thanks a lot.

Aww sorry greekscrapper - I don't use photoshop, so I can't help you. But... have a cookie and just sit and wait. I'm sure one of these wonderful ladies here will stop by to help you!

On the Help menu, you'll find an entry that should say About Photoshop, or something equivalent. That should tell you which version it is.

I have just been learning Photoshop CS2, and it took me FOREVER to find the effects button. On CS2, it is a little round button with a cursive F on it that is so small you probably can't read it. It's in one of the little icons across the bottom of the layers palette. If you hover over them (long enough...PS takes forever to put helper text up in a hover) it should tell you what each of those things are.

Anyway, I hope this helps. If yours doesn't look like that, tell us what it says under Help/About. :)

If you have Photoshop and not Photoshop elements then you wont have an effects tab - the two are completely different programmes ( just made by the same Manufacturer - - as Deb mentioned - uner Help there is usually a menu item called about - and that will tell you what version and what programme you have

I must say that you guys are so unbelievably helpful here! I wasn't expecting answers so soon! Thank you ssooooo much!!

Okay so I have Adobe Photoshop 4.0. No effects button at the bottom of the layers window. So does this mean I don't get any drop shadows?

Adobe PS 4 doesn't have layer styles, I think 7 or maybe 6 was the first version to have those. Are you sure it's Photoshop and not Photoshop Elements?
If you have 4, you'll have to do some serious alterations to the usual instructions, and I don't think PS 4 can open PNG files that most scrap graphics are now, like the freebies and store items.
You can still have drop shadows, but you'll have to make them yourself. Let us know if you need help with that.

I'll be in Seattle this July visiting my family in Kent/Renton. Welcome to DSPPPPP!!!!!
