View Full Version : clusters and 4x6 ploppers

Are the designers interested in putting together their own clustered elements (ribbons, metals, flowers, tags, etc) I have saw them done in seasons, but themes would be fun too, weddings, birthdays, newborn, you could put them all together and throw in some of Tina's wordart, wouldn't that be exciting,
Also, Lisa has her Kira ploppers in a 4x6 but I don't see much else that is universal. Most of the 4x6's are Christmas things. Products with swirls and clusters that are plopped over a photo or with faded shabby backgrounds would likely be a BIG hit, They'd be nice to give to friends as gifts. Most photos are 4x6's and these elements would be great, quick and simple, Anyone interested?

Oh I second that request!!! I scrap in 4x6 landscape, A LOT!!! Mostly because of printing so cheaply but also to put into the big volume photo albums! I scrap tons more since I switched to digital so I would need a whole library building if I made everything 12 x 12 albums!
Also, I recently *scraplifted* a postcard that Kasha sent the grannies from Egypt. Someone then suggested that I use it as a postcard to friends and relatives to keep them up to date with my daughter's band doings, my son's bowling efforts, etc. etc. Great idea!!! And the theme week announcement quick clicks from Bethy and Z are perfect!!
So these clusters and ploppers would be a huge time saver and really increase quantity while also increasing quality!!

Are you thinking of 6x4 instant albums or something a little looser than an instant album??
I LOVE the idea. I always scrap 6x4 for gifts. I scrap 10x8 for myself and print and frame but almost always 6x4 for little gift albums.
Hmm, you definitely have my creative juices flowing now!!

I'm thinking a little bit looser. I do a lot of the litle gift albums too so would need to be able to vary it quite a bit. Maybe a plopper plus where we could change the background and a few other papers involved, positioning, etc. But always with the wonderful cluster element that I can never seem to get right!!

I have seen another website that does element clusters - Bethy, would you like a link to see them (that is if I can find it again!). I really liked the idea of them - especially would be great for freestyle type layouts also (this may not be exactly the same as what you are all thinking, but would be a good addition to the store!) gotta go on the hunt for that site....

Hi Bethy, So pleased one of the dsp designers are interested, perhaps a few more once they see the thread,I thinking a little loser too, more freestyle, (maybe Suzanne would like a hand in this design process as well, You're all so great at it) ,but quick little cluster addons, and swirly little overlays and pretty framings with wordarts, freestyle album ploppers would be wonderful too, I adore the shabby feel, the openings would need to be quite large as we're only using 4x6 photos that would need to be shrunk a little to fit into the openings if it is albums, otherwise elements to just plop overtop. This would be an ideal gift as 4x6 albums are so readily available. I'm thinking pretty pretty things, creams, beiges, pink, greens, lilacs, something that can be used for girly layouts, babies, weddings, quite universal stuff

are you talking about like 4x6 frames? Premade with the elements?
This sounds interesting. Problem is I am a visual person. I can't quite "picture" what you mean.
I used to have a BUNCH of 4x6 albums in the store, but yanked them as they didn't sell well.

Well .... I don't want to show favortism but a few really nice clusters that I like are in:
Z's Summer Breeze Plopper
Becky's Springs First Blooms
Lauren's flower/doodle corner in her Daisy Corner QC
Lisa's flower doodles in her Flower Dots QC
Something like those. Is that a better idea of what I mean? I'm not sure if that is what Hattitudes or scrapmel had in mind. Whenever I try to make a cluster, it looks like a bunch of junk thrown together instead of the beautiful elements that they really are!

I'd like to see clustered elements with freestyle frames, and wordart dedicated to a theme or universal, something that can be used for weddings, summer/spring, babies, girly girl, etc, say two of each in a kit, 2 clusters, 2 wordarts, 2 frames, does this help?
Thanks Hatti, that helps :D

Oh yes!!!! Hattitudes, that link shows EXACTLY what I had in mind! But of course, I would NEVER buy anything anywhere except from the wonderful designers at DSP!! (I'm serious, I've never bought anywhere else, the designers here are so generous with their chat freebies and posting bonuses, I never have time to check out anything anywhere else!)

Lisa, that little frame with the elements from Lauren's QC is the exact thing I"m talking about, but it would already come preassembled. I'm sure the designers could bring alot of their elements back to life by putting together things such as these, Tomorrow is June 1st and they can add new kits, they now have 16 hours to put them together, lol. We'll all keep our eyes on the store, just kidding fab designers, hope you all think this is a GREAT idea,
something along the lines of this then?http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/1624/ScreenHunter_08_May_31_10_25.jpg

Yes Tina, just like that but you don't need the three pages behind, I'm thinking element clusters and framing, and you've already got wordart, SUPER DUPER, if you add a 3.5 x 5.5 frame to the outside of this, I think you'd have what I'm thinking about.

I can't find the site, but you have the right idea Tina.
I went to look at Suz's gallery, check this layout out
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/2943/05_P_FreeToDream_12x12_600pixel.jpg
See the cluster of elements below the photo? The three flowers, ribbon, stitches, paper border? Like just sell THOSE, already laid out - TADA, a freestyle layout you have (if you want). They are just element 'clusters' artistically arranged.
Edited: WHOA! How do I make that smaller???? Sorry!

I just finished a set of clusters and will get you a sneak peek and them up in the store soon!! They were SO much fun to make!! (And I used just about $45 worth of kits to make 4 clusters that will be on sale for only $2.99! What a bargain!)
I'm still working on some ideas for the 4x6 ploppers . . . I'll be on vacation for the next two weeks with LOTS of time to sketch out some new ideas!! So, keep your eyes open when I get back!

Beth, these are exactly what I had in mind! Hope everyone else likes them too! And to think, you started a whole new category -- Groupies!!! Now, having grown up in the 60s and 70s, I won't make any other comments about that!!!
Hatty, thank you so much for starting this thread and getting the designers interested in this!! You have helped to start a whole new movement here at DSP -- everyone will be flooding the store to get their very own Groupies!!! hehehehe

Lisa, your 4x6 card sets are exactly what I was thinking of, with the change to being Quick Click's instead of ploppers, so that I could use any kit that I wanted to.
Also then they can be used landscape or portrait (or even rotated).
Some of the little 4x6 albums have 20 pages. So it would be great to have a couple of different QC sets as then you have lots of pages to choose from.
Maybe you could change these sets into QC's.... hint hint
