impressive and substantial kits, the parlor and addon..wow! the wonderful dimension and the polish and shine. just phenominal kim. i havent opened either yet so its always shooting in the blind to comment that way...but that never stops me. lol
i think perhaps a contrast in texture...like your lace or your doodles or your natural elements...course, i have those in alternate kits...but, i think that would be nice. and you could pull in some greenery if you like that idea. i see ivy.....it adds life and new texture and a bit more color and might just be fun with this. or, you know, your crochet is awesome. i need to use those crochet frames too...lol but, i would either crochet in the parlor or smoke a stogie. lol and i would have a couple baskets with my yarns and needles and my magazines ...i would have a cozy rug...could be braided or obbison (not good spelling)...i might have a granny afghan. plushie bathrobe...(warning:dont visit me in my parlor). so, if any of these ideas inspire you to create, they would be fun to add to this.

Suggestions for the Parlour kit: hooked rug bg/element; crocheted doily, coat/hat rack (the long, pegged kind that used to hang in the hall) tiffany inspired lampshade/window hanging, metal elements, leather album/book cover, old glass bottle, stamp collection, dried, pressed flower arrangement/groupie?, lacy shawl, old style radio (LOL!), bookcase, fireplace and acoutrements, tassels, paned window with curtain pull bg, a fluffy cat on a rug? I'm getting silly now - best to come back with fresh ideas later!

Oh, a Boston fern w/china patterned vase/plant stand? Metal scrolly music stand? Piano stool/bench? old sheet music patterned paper? old player piano scroll, crystal anything, old newspaper/newsprint anything!

YIPPEE hooray. I am so glad In the Parlor was chosen this week. Sorry I missed the chat freebie. I tried to get up this morning, but I have a horrible cold and feeling terrible. I thought the extra sleep would do me better.....

OMG! I am soooo glad that the kit is "In the Parlor" and I am thrilled that the addon became the chat freebie. The tiffany glass and the rich mahogany is to die for!!! Wow!!! Suggestions ... hmmm...
I like the plant idea ... maybe a hanging plant made of the glass and the plant could be a vine-type thing that hangs gracefully down, a table element for the lamp, tiffany-glass flowers, it needs a contrasting color ... how about a green or sage background that has a texture, something like, that fiber accent but for journaling.

It's just beautiful, Kim!!!

Since a plant has been suggested, I would not mine seeing some ivy. I was wondering if a crystal glass background is possible?

Yay, Jestep just read you suggested ivy too. Great.

definitely needs some colours included in it maybe a posy of flowers or even stained glass suncatchers or multi coloured gem stones or multi coloured glass buttons.

Love an oval wooden frame with a bevelled glass insert in the frame that could be used/or not used depending on what you were doing. Just like the frames around my Grandparents wedding photos.

Tiffany glass style frame, some leaves to go with the flowers, cream bg with flowers scattered all over it.

Stained Glass beading frame/bg maybe with the glass glare/glow in it, but so we could put our own papers under the pieces in the frame to change the colours... does that make sense

Everything you do, Kim, is lovely. First I looked up parlor - a room in a private house or establishment where people can sit and talk and relax. Then I did a Google Image search on parlors. VBG

Some big flower type wallpaper? Some vellum, a tall plant or feathers, hurricane lamp, a harp, some ornate wood spindles, music, a room divider - WAIT. That's enough for a new kit! Parlor II.

Hope this is where I post the layout using In the Parlor.

I had to delete the first upload of Parlor Cat, I lost 3 comments, sorry for any inconvience. I made some changes to the text.

Dovedesign, you don't have to delete a file to replace it, just click on 'edit photo' and you can reupload a new file and still have all the comments there.

Anyone know what the kit is for the challenge this week please? And has anyone received their posting bonus for 'In the Parlor'? There doesn't seem to have been a poll to choose a kit in this week's chat, or didn't the chat go ahead, I missed it somehow.
