I was trying to do the PSP Word Art tut this morning, but ran into one small complication which has to do with varying versions of PSP. I work in PSP7 and I believe the tut is for PSP8. Anyhow, at the end of the tut where it's talking about clicking on the locks on the far right of the layer palette it says the lock when left clicked will change from gray to 1 and then if clicked again to a 2. In PSP7 all that happens when you left click is the red "X" over it disappears, I assume unlocking it. So, since it doesn't work the same in PSP7 as in PSP8 I was unable to get this particular feature, of locking text together without merging, to work. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this in PSP? It's not that big of a deal if there isn't, would just be more convenient, like the tut said, if I didn't have to worry about constantly moving separate parts of text to line up.

TIA :)

I've never used PSP7, but the term you're looking for is link layers

you can look in Help>Search link and see what comes up on how to do it, if possible

thinking of upgrading the v9?

Thanks. I was going to look in help and then forgot. Doh. hehe
As for upgrading.. I guess it depends on how well I really get in to the scrapping with my v7. Maybe I'll ask dh for it for my b'day in March. :D

You can do it in PSP7. On the layer palette there is a tab with 2 red overlapping rectangles and 2 blue overlapping rectangles. Click on that and you will see the word none. For each layer you want to lock together just click once on it and the number 1 will show up. Every layer that has the number 1 will be locked together and you can move them as one. You can lock other layers together by using the number 2. Just click it two times. You can have up to 15 locked together layers in PSP7.

Hope this helps.
