I couldn't wait to get back to my computer to ask this questions. I want to buy a new monitor. I started to shop and found way too many things listed about each monitor that don't mean anything to me. My husband we should go shopping at our local computer store. Then my son, a lot more educated, said I really need a monitor for digital artists. One that's got a big screen. I really want a big screen. I have been working for many years with this one, and it's really small. Can I get some suggestions about getting a new monitor. I guess this would be the best place to get information that would apply to my uses of the monitor. I'm the only one using this monitor, so I don't care about using it for gaming. I have far too many other things to do than sit here playing games. Thanks for you help and time.

I don't know much about monitor technicalities - but I do know there can be a big difference in sharpness so I would advise seeing it in real life before buying - preferably where you can compare more than one monitor side by side to see the difference.

I believe a 19" screen would be great for you, and it should be a LCD flat screen, not the "old" kind with glass and a bent surface.

Here's a great site for shopping and learning. www.tigerdirect.com. They explain the specifications of a monitor and you can read the reviews. Nothing like hearing from the customer!
When you're comparing the resolution #, the higher the # the better the resolution capabilities.
The 5ms or 8ms is the screen refresh rate, which comes into play with movies/gaming, However, if you're comparing price and one is lower refresh rate than other and you like all, I would go ahead and get the lowest.

Anywhoo, this site helps alot and also has great prices.

Good luck in your quest.
