View Full Version : Anyone else "scared"?

I have to admit, I am a bit scared about book 7.

I don't doubt Jo, she is an artist, and it will be a wonderfully written book no matter what....

but I am scared that she won't end it as I hope, that things will go unresolved, that in the end I will go... whoa, wait, what??? I put all these hours, love, energy, and thought into these books, and that is what we get in the end??

I dunno.... Like I said, I'm sure she's written a gem, but will it be the gem I want? And yeah, yeah, yeah, its not all about me... lol... but I want an ending I can at least be satisfied with, even if I cannot love it.......

So, I've like got the 11th hour freak out, how bout y'all?

Well I heard a rumour on the news ( and you potterfiles probably know more than this already anyway) - that she has indicated that this may NOT be the last book

Now, Lauren! Don't be so mean to Tina and the other other Potter-ettes here! LOL, I really don't think they could handle THAT kind of suspense!!!

LOL hey dont shoot the messenger!! It may completely not be true but it was actually on our morning news the other day- it basically said she didnt discount that there had been a lot of pressure to continue after the 7th book and that it was now a possibility

Hmmmmmm........ she's always always always sworn this would be the end of Harry. That the only thing she might do would be like Hogwarts textbooks or background info, etc for charity.

No sequels, no prequels... (I'd LOVE a prequel!!! Young Lupin *squee*)

I have not heard this yet!

Tina, I think I've got the 11th hour freak-out now too. I've had it every since A Series of Unfortunate Events ended with such a horrible book! I'm sure this one won't be that way!!

She's definitely NOT writing another sequel - what she said is that she might writh a HP encyclopedia, explaining indepth about relationships and family trees of all the characters. The money she'll make from that book will go to charity - like with "Quidditch through the ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them"

LOL - forgot to answer your question Tina - yes, I feel the same. There's so much I want to know, so many questions, it's impossible that I will get all the answers in book 7. I can live with a few unanswered questions, I can live with a mystery or two, but please *gets down on knees* let book 7 be fullfilling. I don't mind a bad ending, yes I'll cry... well, bawl... but if that's the way she thinks it's right, than who am I to disagree. I just hope that bad ending - if there's going to be one - is something I can understand and be at ease with.

*biting nails and counting days*

Well, I've had the freak out for a couple of months. I've been hoping that Harry survives, but I worry...

Also, I think she has stated that she would do a charity book that was kind of a collection of short biographies utilizing the background work she did on all the characters.

But, down deep in the dark recesses...I WANT her to do another 7 book series on the Maurauders or Tom Riddle (I don't think they were at Hogwarts together)

She continues to say how tired she is and I think she'll take several years off. But if they are going to open an amusement park in 2009, it will be hard to sustain interest if she doesn't write something about the wizarding world, IMHO.

"Never say never"

Tina

Now you all have ME sick to my stomach ... I wanted to reread all of them before this next one (the last three centered around taking my mind off being pregnant or just having had a baby/on maternity leave kind of reading...).
But I have to say, I will never, NEVER (I do say NEVER) forget reading that first one ... utter and sheer amazement in that woman's ability to spin a good yarn!
And I still remember when they cast Daniel in the role of Harry, that his parents didn't want him to do it and the director begged, saying 'he IS Harry Potter!"

I soooo agree... Series was a BIG disappointment in "The End", wasn't it??

Well, I'm a relatively new Potter fan. I've seen all the movies (well... I'm going to see Phoenix this weekend! YAY!!) But I'm only 1/2 way through Goblet of Fire as far as the books go. My goal was to be ready for the last book by the time my friend finished reading his pre-ordered copy (yeah, I'm a bum! LOL)

I don't know how I've waited this long to read them though... the books are sooooo good!!!!!!!!!! I have a feeling I'm gonna have a Potter-logged brain by the time I start teaching again in the fall. Sure hope she ends it on better terms than Daniel Handler did "Series!"

Well, I re-read all 6 book in just over 2 weeks . . . back-to-back-to-back. Now, I'm re-watching all the movies.

I'm completely overwhelmed with Potter!

I have the book to be delivered on the 21st . . . I figure I'll have it down in about 48 hours! Just time to read it again for my book club meeting in August! Yep, we're having a special meeting just to discuss the Potter books! Then we're going, as a group, to the movie.

But, I can NOT find movie #4! Is it not out on DVD? I never saw that one and wanted to watch it before I see #5!

Anyway, I am scared. I don't want it to end in a cliche' way where everyone is happy and everything is resolved but I don't want it to end badly . . . kwim?? I want to think of him going off and continuing aventures but I do want my questions answered!

Tina

Bethy, yup, its out on DVD. Has been for several months.

I thought so!! I just didn't see it when it came out. Makes me wish I hadn't cancelled that Netflix subscription!

And I have my book club tonight . . . on another book . . . but I know this group will start our Potter discussion today!! Yeah!

I just rented #4 again this weekend. At our video store, they had moved it up to a special sections for prequels and sequels, so it took me a while to find it... but it's there.

Arrggh! Ran off and left Goblet of Fire at home today. Now all the kids are napping and I COULD be knocking off another 100 pages or so!

Tina, I know what you mean but I honestly have faith in JK ... you are reminding me so much of how disappointed I was in Sopranos (anyone watch it and know what I mean??) but there were episodes of Sopranos, whole seasons in fact, that disappointed me. I have NEVER been let down by the HP series, so I don't think we have anything to worry about!

And despite the fact that I'd HATE to see the series end, I think the phrase "quit while you're ahead" factors very nicely into this picture. We wouldn't want the series ruined or "played-out" right?

Bethy, Goblet of Fire has been coming on TV a lot lately. I don't know if its HBO or one of the other movie channels, but we've seen it quit a few times in the last month or so.

BethyNixon
07-12-2007, 01:08 PM
really? I've been searching and searching the TV schedules for it and couldn't find it!! But, then, we don't get HBO so maybe that's the problem!! LOL

Ok . . . off to Blockbusters for me!

So, with the prophecy, one of them has to die. Do you think she can do anymore books with one of them dead? I really don't think there will be another book, but ya never know. She said she is taking a long break because she is tired.

Bethy, it's out. We got ours at Wal-mart. In fact, our Wally-World has a display of all four dvds.

petrified Tina. Sometimes I just giggle over how silly I am about this series & how much I have "invested" but doggone it I can't help myself. I'm under a spell of some sort I think. Will the spell be broken at the end of the series or is it permanant magic?

Tina, I know how you feel! I have so many mixed emotions about this one- and I don't want to hear about the ending of the book from anyone until after I've finished it! I may have to lock myself in my room as soon as I get back from the midnight party and not come out until I've finished it....:harry: :ron: :twins:

So, how are y'all getting your books? Pre-ordered or are you braving a bookstore or Walmart or something? Are y'all talking about it on here or have you already made a rule to be quiet? Didn't I see you guys writing in white text once so you could only read it by purposefully highlighting the text?

I really like the HP series and movies but apparently not like some of you do!! But its fun to watch you guys get so into it! You're really fun!

I'm nervous and excited! Natalia and I are in Maine visiting my parents-who are both Potter fans as well-and we're going to take her the party at the local Barnes & Noble since it starts at 7pm. We'll stay as long as she (being 4 y/o) will last and then the book will be delivered by Amazon.com in the am and we'll know what happens. I'm with ya'll a prequel would be MOST excellent! Can't wait to start hearing everyone's thoughts on book 7 here tomorrow!!

I have been doing so well w/ not being nervous- but am on my toes with my heart actually beating fast right now. I, too, read the 1st book to while away the late night pregnancy back aches in 1999.

My 10 YO just spent the last 2 weeks reading the 1st 6- I couldn't entice him to read them for years, then couldn't get him to stop. It was cool to hear "MOM you were RIGHT!" I have that stored in my memory banks for the future. :)

I just tracked my book which I ordered from Amazon- it;s in Tulsa. I want it NOW. Did any of you cheat and look at the spoilers on line? I'm resisting!

Enjoy all you Potties!
