OK - finally got around to posting this!! We are having another crop in Auckland on Sunday 5th of August. Unfortunately the room we booked last time was already booked but we have been given equivalent space in the library. Note for those who came last time, we will not have as much access to the kitchen.

Also, given the amount of leftovers we had last time, we decided that it would be easier to provide food rather than have everyone bring a plate. To cover the cost of the food and the room, we are asking for a $10 contribution from everyone. Also, please advise if you have any special food requirements (eg vegetarian, allergies etc) so we can make sure there is something suitable available.

Sunday 5 August
10am to 4 pm
NZSG Family Records Centre
First Floor
159 Queens Road
Panmure

If you wish to come, please sign up in this thread and we will add your name to the list. There is room for about 20 people so first in, first served. We had such a lot of fun last time - looking forward to seeing you all there!!

Last time we did ATC's, this time I thought we should all scrap a name tag.

I'm going to do mine so it fits in one of those plastic name tag clips/holders. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Funny - I was thinking we needed to do that too!

I have some ATCs leftover from last time so if we have new people this time that want to swap I'll bring mine with me.

I REALLY want to come but I am headed to Brisbane next week. I think I will only be there a week and then back here until the 14th August but things are pretty fluid with the moving plans at this stage. Could you call me a maybe?

Hi Everyone:wave:
Yes please add me to the list I will be a definate. Had such a great time last time. I have now got myself a printer and have been printing out my layouts as I was so inspired by all you wonderful digiscrappers who had their layouts printed out at the last crop. So looking forward to this crop. P.S. I saw a mobile coffee van the other day and thought that would be great to get them to come to us and make coffee www.thecoffeeshot.com I went on the site and found a name Russell Plews 0274595837 think his email is theshot@xtra.co.nz if whoever is orgainising the food is interested in this, might save Lauren dragging her coffee machine along.
See you all on the 5th

Hi

I'm very very new at scrapbooking and have registered on this site. Unfortunately I live in Christchurch and can't make such an event which I think I would really enjoy!

Is there anyone who lives in Christchurch who I can share ideas with??? or is there a chance of a get together at some stage in the Canterbury region??

I'd love to utilise my software more, but it's hard to get started from books and no previous knowledge of paper scrapebooking.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
Shirley Cummings

Hi
I also do not live in Auckland, but in the South Island, on the West Coast of NZ. Here there is only a couple of paper scrapping classes and definitly no digital scrapping classes/get-to-gether learning opportunities. That is apart from this site etc.
Cheers

Yay some Mainlanders!! :yahoo:

I'd love to have a crop in ChCh (in fact there is a mini crop happening at my house tomorrow night with some friends, so there will be more of us).

I'm sure we can organise something, so let me look into it and I'll post back in the forums in the near future.

Welcome to DSP CruizeNZ and Shirl - Its great to hear from more NZers - Im glad Fiona replied to you - theres nothing like meeting up with like minded people - We do have a chat here on the site every week Thursday at 9.30 - I usually host it but I am leaving today for Chicago to work for DSP at a trade show so I wont be back till August 1st but Im hoping that SHaron and Fiona (honeymoon) will keep the ball rolling in the chat room - - to go there just click on chat under THE PLACE in the navigation panel above and sign in and click on the main room - Our chats are usually pretty quiet and very casual - more of a gossip time than anything serious but there is always someone there to answer your questions and help you out .

Unfortunately Fiona tells me that there has been a hitch in the accommodation - NZSG do not feel comfortable with non members having access to the library. I will see if I can find somewhere else - but I am afraid it is likely to be on the North Shore as I am not keen to wander all over Auckland! If I don't find anywhere in the next few days, I am afraid we will have to cancel and try again for another date, My profuse apologies - we thought we had it all sorted. I will keep you informed....

I am trying to contact someone at the moment about another venue. It would be good for our needs I think but I need to find out about availability and cost. Will keep you posted....

I can check with my mum if she knows any place central that we could use (she knows 21 or so community centres in Auckland City) but no guarantees with the crop being on a Sunday

Jennifer found this place (http://www.wesleycentre.org.nz/) and has kindly offered to check it out. It is a little more expensive than our previous room so we will have to see if it is in our budget :)

I have discussed the situation with Lauren and since so many "regulars" can't make it this time anyway and it could potentially be a tricky with the cost of room and the small numbers, we have decided to cancel the crop for now. We WILL definitely be organising another one and we will be ensuring that our room booking is signed in blood!!! My apologies for this but I think it is the best decision we can make at this stage. I would like to thank Jennifer for all her hard work in helping us out. Thanks also to Shona for chipping in too. I really appreciated it. I will PM all those who signed up to make sure that they know about the change of plan. Sigh.

Hi Sharon

I have just talked to my mum and she has offered us a room at her work for $20 for the day including use of a kitchenette. It is at Fickling Centre Cnr of Mt Albert Rd & Mt Eden Rd.

Such a pity we've had to cancel. Thanks to everyone that tried to find a venue. I'll keep my eyes peeled in case anywhere brilliant presents itself.

Thanks for the offer Jennifer - but I have already informed everyone that the crop is cancelled so I think trying to change it at this late stage will just cause confusion. Like everyone I am disappointed - hopefully things will be better next time!!

I'm sad for all you guys that hoped to have a crop next week  . My offer still stands on the venue I told you about Sharon for the next time if we have problems again, personally I liked the 'Records' room we had in May - very cosy. Of course, whilst I'm sad for you all I'm secretly doing a little dance because it means I will be able to make the next crop now...
