I was wondering of some resources, classes (other than what is on DSP) that we can use to learn how to become a digital designer of our own kits, etc. I am very interesting in learning and I can only seem to find limited info. Do we need graphic design backgroud, etc.?

You don't need design background, I don't think many of us do. The nclasses at DSP are absolutely the best, as are the fantastic tuts in the tutorials section (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/tutorials.shtml). Other than that, search the web for tutorials in your program, the more you learn the better skilled you will become.

Good luck!

actually I dont know of any other place that has as many element/design classes as DSP. My suggestion would be to start from the ground up and take as many as you can and as your pocket book affords. Another suggestion is to look at the kits the designers here offer and see what they put in them. This will give you a starting point as too what is generally put in each kit and try to duplicate it to give you an inside perspective on how to make each element.

Practice, practice, practice is another real thing you must do. It takes time but its worth it in the end. Good luck!

Once you get to the place where you want to practice, practice, practice, you're invited to come over and participate in SNL - It's a monthly group of us here at DSP who make things with the same color palette and share them with each other. There's some incredibly talented people who are members. And there's new folks each month, and everywhere in between.

We meet in chat on Saturday nights at 10pm, and truly, they're a great bunch of people. They didn't send me packing when I joined, and have encouraged me every step of the way since then. I've learned so much! You make what you are able to make. No pressure, no expectations.
