Hi - I am using a early version of Photoshop Elements (may even be 1.0 as I can't find the version number in "About").

I have found a number of brushes that I would like to download however I always receive the following message:
Could not load the brushes because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop.

How can I tell which files are compatible? The all end with *.abr - I have the option in Photoshop to load brushes and I can't seem to find any brushes that were made for this verison.

This is getting frustrating (but not yet enough to purchase a new version of the software).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Lisa

With software that old newer brushes may not work. Newer versions of PSE are so much better than 1.0. I'd highly suggest upgrading!

I agree, you probably really do need to upgrade :) ... if you check out Adobe, there is often a discount for upgrading if you have proof of purchase for your original program and also check out Amazon and e-Bay for good prices on the newer versions. Good luck!

You can use abrviewer to convert the brushes to a png format and then re-create the brushes compatible with your version... Get abrviewer here: http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/abrviewer

I agree - there are many more features apart from brushes that would be of assistance to you if you upgraded -

Thank you all for your help/suggestions. I have upgraded to PSE 5 - wish I hadn't waited so long...I Love it! Found it for just $30 (it's $100 on the Adobe website).
