I have an issue that I can't figure out. My monitor shows things as blue and then when they are printed, they are lavendar. Can anyone help? I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and a Kodak 1400 printer. I am using CS2. I've tried to callibrate the monitor but can't even seem to figure out how to get that done. Anyone had a similar issue? Is it a callibration issue? How did you solve it? Thanks!!

I've now tried everything that I can think of or find any ideas on - I've merged the layers and changed the color setting to print as well as calibrated my printer -- still getting lavender rather than the light blue that shows up on my monitor. Here is the LO that shows up blue to me and prints lavendar. Does it show up as blue to everyone else or lavendar? Actually, here are 2 that I'm having problems with - blue or lavendar?

Both are showing up as blue on my monitor and look very nice.
I am not sure if it would make any difference, but have you checked to see to see if maybe a driver update would help on the printer ? Might check the print heads too.
I know there are programs that can help to calibrate the monitor, but have never done that myself -at least not yet.

Thanks for looking and letting me know Dani B. The printer I am using doesn't have printer heads - it's a large kodak that uses the technology of the series 3 printers (3 colors of film and then a clear coat - looks just like a professional printed page). I'll see if there are newer print drivers. At least I know the colors on my monitor are the same as what you are seeing.

Make sure that you have the right paper profile for your printer selected in your software print preview and also selected the right paper in the printers preferences box.(glossy, matte) Also use the paper that is made for your printer, I found this makes a big difference with the colors!!

Thanks! I finally found a box where I could adjust color prior to printing for each color on a slide. The only problem with it is that you have to print a page before you know it is going to print incorrectly and then it's a guess as to how much to adjust. I only have 2 pages that seem to want to print off for some reason - I guess I'll just have to self-adjust and get over it ;-) Thanks for the help!!

What are the two colors supposed to be. (what did you intend)? Are they supposed to both be blue or one blue and one lavender?

They both look blue on my monitor too. :)

Both blue for me too - but remember these blues are warm and contain red hues and if your blue cartridge is low the red may predominate a bit more. I have an HP laser colour and it's great but sometimes when one colour is getting lower it does seem to change the tones slightly - even if it's not supposed too - technology Huh!!

I've had two Epsons that also did this when the blue started getting low...really hated to change out the cartridge before it was finished so I always printed a few things that didn't use much blue until the cartridge was empty. Can we spell C-H-E-A-P?
BTW, the Alex LO is showing a definite periwinkle blue on my Mac while the Joy and Frank LO is definitely blues. Both BGs are blue on my monitor, but the Alex BG definitely leans more toward a purple than the Joy and Frank BG does. (Both LOs are lovely -- in fact, think I may be forced to buy Lauren's Bluebells and Butterflies kit. )

I also had trouble that my prints did not match what I saw on my monitor. After a little research, I ended up changing the Color Management section of the print preview screen to "same as source." Now I'm quite satisfied with the results. BTW, I use an Epson 1280 wide format printer.

You might try converting to CMYK before you print. You are printing to a CMYK printer, after all. It's a VERY common proofing problem to have blues go purple. I think it's an ICC profile thing.
There's fairly expensive packages you can buy to calibrate your monitor and then your printer to the standards, but most of us can adjust by any number of the above hints.
You might also just check your printer color calibration ... it might be just a tad off and this one image has just the right color combinations to make it go purply!
