The Heritage challenge for this week is Dances and Dates - Upload your pages to the Heritage Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=847) before 12 midnight on the 9th for a chance to win a voucher for a page kit. Please also remember, in order for CathieMarie to make the poll you must also post a link here in the challenge thread.
I am looking forward to all those happy pages :)
I hope you will fine the new home for the Heritage Forum (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?p=327359#post327359) easier to find - please bookmark it carefully :) There you will find news of this weeks winner :)

Meryl--bookmarking this for future reference!
Did I miss something, though? I thought that our deadline was before noon DSP time on the day of the chat, which would be Wednesday, August 8th.
Let me know, please! (I am brain dead this week, so I probably am missing something somewhere! --and, grannies, no wisecracks!!:D )

Isn't our deadline on 8th, not the 9th? 9th is a Thursday :)

Excellent - about time you had your own forum for this Meryl. Not being able to make the chats I gave up trying to figure out the challenges each week.
I've subscribed to the forum so I don't miss any updates. Hopefully (no promises) I'll be able to get back into scrapping some more heritage stuff. I have a mountain of photos sitting next to me waiting to be scanned.

Now don't go getting your panties in a bunch, I know this isn't what y'all had in mind when you chose *dancing* as a topic but I just don't have anything like that in my stash of photos! This really WAS a wonderful and fascinating dance to watch and I got several good photos of it, so...... I didn't get to do a layout last week because I didn't have any musical photos and I just couldn't let two weeks go by without something!! So, please just forgive me and let me slide this week with my Dancing Doves in Love (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=205446&cat=847)!

I just loveMeryl's chat/challenge. Now that I've seen all the creativity that was shown during the music and food memories weeks I'm sure I won't miss another topic. Here's my LO for dance. I apologize for the way too long text on history but it really was kind of interesting. I had no idea of the traditions around square dance and how it evolved in our country. I didn't have any photos of my feeble attempts so I had to improvise. Like I said in my journaling, I couldn't keep the calls straight and move my feet at the same time, LOL. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=205296&cat=847
I just uploaded my Dances and Dates LO (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=205506). This was a fun page to do. I just recently found a napkin and a program from a drive-in in a box of pictures I brought home from my parents' to scan. My mom had written "Wednesday, June 22, 1955 - Howland Drive-In Theater" on the napkin. That's where I started with this LO and it grew from there. :) TFL!

At first I didn't think I would have anything I could use for this - nothing that would qualify as heritage anyway. When I was going through the scanned pictures I have from my dad's side of the family, I remembered how often his mum and dad used to go out dancing and was lucky enough to find these pictures.

My thoughts exactly. In the meantime, I am going to wait for an update and make sure my LO is done by the 8th... just in case. :p

Here is my entry into this weeks Heritage challenge.
I did not have any old dance photos to choose from so I improvised and used 2 recent dance photos taken at a rock and roll demonstration that I did, blended them together and used virtual filter to create an aged effect. Seeing Rock and Roll dates back to the 50's I thought this might qualify!

Yes I think Meryl made a mistake with the deadline time, as far as I know it is still Midday EST the day before chat to give Cathie time
to set up the poll because she lives in England. The deadline time for me in NZ is 4am - which works out great for me because I'm
usually up late working on it anyway
This week I'm early for a change - The Ball Season (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=205667&cat=500&ppuser=26832)

Sorry - yes you are quite right about the deadline - 12 noon on the day of the chat, which is Wednesday. Sorry about that :)
I am so enjoying the dances and dates being posted - keep them coming :)

Tomorrow (Thursday) is a public holiday her in SA (nice one.... Women's Day!) and with such lovely winter weather we have made a snap decision to go away for the 4 days. This means that I will NOT be at the Heritage Chat tomorrow - please could I ask one of you to act as hostess? Whoever does, please email me (meryl@dsplace.com) and let me know how it all went?
You are such a responsible group of ladies I know it will all go smoothly :)
See you on Monday!

Meryl, you're so right...great gals who can handle things quite well when needed on the chat. However, you will be missed. Hope you have a fabulous time on your holiday.

I finally found my one and only prom photo. In fact, it's the only photo that still exists from my teen years. I have already posted a "dance" layout but I thought I'd link my actual prom lo because I may never have an excuse for using this photo again, LOL! Can you beleive the hairdo, LOLOL! http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=206120&cat=500&ppuser=65951
I hope I'm not violating any heritage rules by posting two LO's .

As Meryl is off on Holiday we carried on without her and had a lovely chat in Our Heritage tonight! We even had some newbies that have joined us!! This weeks winner was Vickimp with her fun Drive-In (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=205506&cat=847) LO! It was a close race!
Next weeks challenge will be "Special Places." Places from your past or your ancestors past that are special to your family, your area, your state, or nation. That should give everyone something to scrap.
