Hi everyone!!!! :D
I'm new here, and I have a couple of questions regarding the art of scrapbooking :) .
I wanted to know - is it necessary to have TEXT on a layout to be considered scrapbooking?
I created a coffe table book of our wedding a while ago, and I wasn't sure if it would be considered scrapbooking - I've uploaded some of the pages:

What do you guys think? Is this like scrapbooking? Am I in the right direction? What should I change about it to make it better?
I would really appreciate any help or comments you guys may have. I do graphic design for a living, but it's totally different than anything I have seen here - so I know I need to re-adjust my design views to create a beautiful scrapbooking layout.

This is definitely scrapbooking! And beautifully so! It looks like you had a lovely, joyful wedding.
You can find scrapbook pages that have just photo(s) and scrapbook pages that have no photos - just journaling. Some photos stand alone and some need the story that goes with them. And some just need the right quote.
There's a tutorial in the University section on Emotional Journaling that would probably be useful to read.
With your graphics background, you've already got a head start here. I'd take time to browse through the galleries and see which layouts appeal to you. There's a link directly under the photo that you can click on to mark the layout as a favorite. After you've browsed a while and selected a batch of favorites, you can look at them all together and get a clearer idea of where you want to go with your scrapbooking style.
And you're not "required" to stick to any one style, of course. When I make themed albums (like your wedding album) I stick with a single "look," but my chronological albums are a combination of all sorts of things - two pages at a time.
Welcome to DSP! I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Looks like scrapbooking to me too! and beautiful! welcome to DSP!!
beautiful job!
I can't make my pages seem finished without text, and often wish I could feel they were anchored without it
Your scrapbook pages look great! What a nice wedding memento

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments!!!!! :) You guys sure do have a way to make newbies feel totally welcome :D
I'm so relieved that I'm at least headed in the right direction!! Now I'm even more excited about taking some classes here (in January - right??)
kskold - thank you for your wonderful advise!!! I'm definitely going to check into the emotional journaling info that you mentioned - that sounds like something I would be totally interested in. I actually spent like 2 hours yesterday in the galleries, just checking out the beautiful layouts - I just didn't know I could pick my favorites (I'll start that tonight :) ). I noticed that MANY of the most beautiful layouts are child-oriented - I am totally going to go in that direction - unfortunately, we're still waiting another year before we start planning for a baby (but looking at the beautiful layouts totally makes my clock start ticking even louder :D ).
Thank you guys again for being so welcoming and so sweet!!!!!

Amanda - I actually did order it to be printed in a hardbound book. - It looks really nice and professional :D - by the way your sister's wedding album is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
Lauren - thank you!!!! I think I may find the text a little hard to incorporate, but I'm glad that I don't have the pressure of ABSOLUTELY NEEDING text on my pages :)
