yep, it's the same layout for PSP, but the instructions and screen shots are all new! There are about 30 shots now, and the general consensus of the "best" way to do some functions over the last months of discussion about it with the new members who've followed it.

Hopefully it will make the Beginner Chat on the last Friday of each month go more smoothly.

Take a peek if you haven't already, I JUST changed it yesterday

Emma, you did a great job on the "new" tut!! ;o)
Just today I was trying to get my text into "vector" like you told us at the last PSP beginners chat. I had one heck of a time making it stay a vector, but eventually I did get it! ;o) And now I really understand why someone would want text to stay vector! So much easier to manipulate and correct if you need to! ;o)

But I do have a question, lets say I have 4-6 vector layers of text, as in doing a word overlay project. But it wasn't until near the end that I realized I wanted to add a different effect to the letters. (they were just a solid yellow color)
I tried to click on the individual layers to alter them but the effects just kept grabbing the main vector layer. Unless I was doing something wrong already at this point!! Very possible!!
Would a person have to make sure you like how your text is layed out and then do a merge layers in order to be able to apply effects? Or am I overlooking the obvious?
Thanks Tracey

PS whats on the agenda for the next friday's PSP chat? overlays, text??? hehe
hint hint :D

LOL! I have to amend the calendar entry because it automatically puts it for the last Friday of each month, and doesn't take Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve into account ;)

I was also unaware that it's just for PSP :):);) It's actually the same chat as last time, how to get started.

We should organize software specific chats, though, that would be fun! Wanna coordinate that?!

For adding effects to text, I'm not quite sure I understand your question. YOu probably have one vector layer with several text objects on the same layer. You have to copy that text and make a New Vector Layer, paste that text into the Text Entry box, then apply Effects. Remember, any filters/Effects will rasterize the layer first. Try to do as much as you can with the Vector Properties and only rasterize is necessary. You could duplicate the vector layer, then apply raster effects to the copy, just in case you have to make changes later you'll still have the vector text hidden (click the Eye icon to make it invisible)
Make sense?
Hope that helps

OOohh forgot the Christmas is going to be taking place the last Friday of this month!! But still anxiously awaiting to laugh like crazy again!! :p

Sorry I though it was for PSP because all the Q&A seemed to be for that program!

What you suggested for help to my question is about what I did to acheive my goal. It just took me a while to figure it out and thought maybe there was something I was overlooking! But it turned out great and my daughter wants to get it in print for her father for Christmas so he can hang it in his house!

here is a link to my Gallery it is the "Smile" LO with the words (text) that I had the question on!

Thanks again for the help!!

looks great, glad you got the text figured out. You can apply vector properties to only pieces or groups on a single vector layer, but raster effects require the whole layer to be rasterized first, ALL the vector objects on the layer.

The last chat was just PSP, an impromptu one to help a new member. Usually, the regular chat is all software.

but like I said, you wanna organize a software specifc chat, feel free! Calendar is always open

LOL...I barely get myself through PSP at times!! I can't image trying to figure out where someone took a left turn instead of a right, like you did in that last chat!!
I wish I was good enough and maybe someday I will have the confidence to try my hand at helping, I know I would like to get "That" good!!
I don't even begin to match up with you guys who run this show, but I know I sure am glad to have this forum in which to get Great advice, and help when I turn left!!
Thanks for the offer but for now, I'm still learning! ;o)
