just an fyi on the crop on sept 16th in las vegas during memory trends, dsp will be teaching a class to scrapbook retail store owners about the benefits of providing digital scrapbooking products. right after the class, we'll be taking a field trip to the crop to watch YOU in action! they want to see what live laptop crops look like! and they'll want to see the projects you're working on, so please bring your albums and computer crafts! especially any hybrid projects (as scrapbook stores love those!)
help us show retailers that carrying digital products in their store can be profitable and fun!

OK, Margie, I'll do my best for you. I'm planning on buying a laptop while I'm in the states to bring back with me. Regarding albums, I won't be bringing any from England, weight restrictions and all. But I guess I'll be able to create a few hybrids while I'm staying with Lynnie, (FormbyGirl) prior to the crop. I'll have to give some thought on the album, might just slip them into page protectors, unless someone offers to loan me an empty album for a few hours.

I will be in the same boat Cathiemarie - I wont bring my albums because - well they take up valuable shopping space and weight!!- but I will bring a couple of small hybrid type albums and things!!- oh and remember albums are way cheaper in the US so perhaps we could buy a new album over there to put our new pages into!!

I'm thinking of getting a laptop. Now just for this crop LOL. I would use it for other things as well. Computer technology has gotten way beyond me. Does anyone have any recommendations on laptops. ie type of processor, memory requirements, etc. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
I will bring a few albums (but only if you more experiened scrappers promise not to make fun :) ) As to hybrid projects, do we have a link on other crafts somewhere?
thanks, Jen

I would go for as much memory and as fast a processor as you can afford - I know many of the DSP staff have Dells - I like with them that I can customise it to suit my needs when buying it - I love my laptop - I remember when i bought it i said i would never actually scrap on it - only use it for travelling - but i find i rarely use my desktop now - I love the freedom the laptop gives me

Thank you so much Joyce, that is so kind of you. 8x8's will be fine thank you. Not sure about the ATC cards, but it would make sense. Can someone give me clue on what is expected on an ATC card?

ATC cards are great to swap - the normal size is 2.5x3.5 inches - you can do them one sided or double sided and laminated or not - We could have an ATC card contest - maybe a prize for the most creative ATC card perhaps.

Will do Margie
And CathieMarie -
Check out an Apple store in a mall when yo come - the G4 probooks are fantastic. I use a PC at work and my mac at home and the mac is hands down easier, faster, more reliable and awesome in everyway. iPhoto comes with all macs and is great for organizing all your scrap stuff. I'll have my ibook at the crop.

BF wants to know if there will be CAT5 cable, printers, paper, etc. Shawn is a total hardware nut so he"s available for techie stuff and anything else thta needs to be done.

we'll have a printer set up on one computer, with thumb drives and card readers, so printing is covered. we're pretty well covered on the techie stuff, being as we're all nerds!

What should we bring as far as: kits, photos to scrap, etc. I keep all that on an external drive. Should we bring a few favs to work with?
Margie

bring enough to keep you busy for 12 hours! tho most people tend to gab a few of the hours away. you can bring your external, but it's easier to just copy what you plan to use over to your hard drive. a good supply of pics and your newest or favorite kits and such should hold you over. the really organized will do some power scrapping (http://tinyurl.com/ytchds) beforehand and have many folders ready to scrap! now me, i'll have a bunch of ploppers and be ready for super fast pages! :D

I don't have a laptop, and am coming just for the experience and fellowship! (and of course, to watch the pros in action!) I'll be gabbing quite a few of those 12 hours away. And, Sssnoo--I'm looking forward to watching you on a Mac. The only thing that keeps me from buying that is the cost of replacing all my software. Maybe you can convince me.
