View Full Version : Where is Everyone Staying??

I need to book a hotel - but I'm torn between cheap and where everyone else is...
Better get booked quickly - so where is everyone staying?
I know DSP are staying at Harrah's, however, it would be $660 for the 14th, 15th and 16th - not sure I want to spend quite that much.
Embassy Suites Convention Center Las Vegas
3600 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89109, 1-702-893-8000
Has 2 room suites for $152 per night and is right by the Sands convention center
When we went there dancing for Karen we stayed at the
Blair House Suites
344 E. Desert Inn Road Las Vegas, NV 89109
Their rates are currently about $85 per night and we always thought they were nice and comfortable. They are close to the strip, just a little north of the convention center. They are suites and quite comfortable.
Then there are some Travellodges, etc. for $60-70.
What is everyone planning on doing? Staying at the nicer places on the strip or finding somewhere a little less expensive?

Kim and I are staying at Ballys for the nights of the 13th and 14th - then moving to Harrahs -

I do want to warn people about staying off the strip. I stayed at a Motel 6 near the airport and I was honestly afraid to get out of my car. I seriously spent the next 5 hours driving home instead of staying there. It was really bad.

BTW the Memory trends isnt at the main convention centre - its at the Sands Convention centre which I believe is attached to the Venetian
Good thread (although we perhaps want to keep our final decision a bit less public...for safety reasons...maybe?).
I'd prefer safe (not Samara's creepy hotel!) but I don't need glamorous. Of course staying where the DSP employees are would be great...but I'm not that rich!! If a bunch of us stayed somewhere safe and decent but not too expensive, that would be really cool, IMHO. :)

Will be at the Venetian so DH can see the Blue Man show and make us rich while I play with my cyber-friends.

Where is the Crop going to be? I need something less expensive, but would love to be where everyone else is. The Travelodge sounds good to me. They are usually really clean and nice. It is right on the strip and I hear they have a trolley. What does everyone else think about that?

The crop I believe is at the Sands Convention Center- you can read lots of reviews of the hotels at www.tripadvisor.com and you can see rates by price at www.vegas.com ( I looked at the prices first and then the reviews and made my choices from there

If I get to go, and right now it's still a big if! I would love to be able to split the cost of a room with someone. I'm just tossing that out there...

I am staying at Arizona Charlies, that is a familiar area for me, but it is a ways from the Venetian. But easy for me to get there. I really got a good deal $107.00 for Sat. night and $47.00 for Sunday night. Got these prices for doing it on the Internet. My husband is familiar with this place and it will work out great for him as I will have the car.

Scamp - it might push me over the edge of indecision to have a roomie. If we got a suite at the Embassy Suites, I could take the couch in the living room and maybe you couldn't hear me snore. :o :o If you're a sound sleeper, even better!

Now hold on Mars! ;) I haven't even booked yet. Not sure DH will go for it or not. So plans could go south in a hurry. Just kinda testing the waters to see how much it will cost me and if I can afford it. Sure would be fun though! I get excited just thinking about it :twins:

we're looking at the imperial palace. Our problem is deciding to drive from sanfrancisco bay area or fly.
Lauren
08-22-2007, 05:43 PM
I really wanted to do the drive from SanFrancisco - but due to time restraints I had to fly - I will be flying into SFO from Auckland NZ - and then flying direct to Vegas - I would have loved to do the drive via Yosemite and Death Valley though - maybe another year!!!

I will double check on this but I imagine you just turn up and sign in!!-
You can make some ATC cards - theres been a thread about this somewhere else - these are Artistic Trading cards - basically at 2.5x3.5 inch card - you can make it single or double sided - laminated or not - up to you - that says something about you - we can swap these at the crop !!

I dont think everyone who says they are coming has registered yet - I will give you an update on how many at some stage though
I'm a slacker - I haven't registered yet but I'm coming...and so is my BF. He loved the Anaheim crop so much that he doesn't want to miss out (he just came to visit last time...and ended up staying!) Now that is either a testimonial of how great a DSP crop is or how weird my BF is - - or maybe BOTH!!! :) And just so you all know, he's willing to pose with flat grannies or well - most anything you can come up with! He's very amenable that way! :)

I live in Vegas and I wish I could help you out with hotels but since I live here, I never stay in hotels. I want to come and will be registering right away. I have never been to one of these events. Can someone please direct me to a good information site. I'm not sure on one thing, is this a one day event? I see the all day crop for September 16, are there other events to register for? Thank you!
Margie

just the one day crop. see www.laptopcrop.com for pics and ideas of what to expect! and yay, mr. orange sue's coming back! can't wait to see everyone! don't stress too much about hotels, just get a cab to the venetian and we'll keep you busy all day, then make you so tired you'll sleep soundly anywhere! but i would second the off-strip hotels, do be careful!! there are some very cheap ones that are scary!
