Okay, I think I am answering all your questions this morning..LOL

Scanner, I have a canon LiDe 20 or 30. It is not the highest resolution you can get, but so far has worked for me. And it was FREE! My mother gave it too me as a gift, and she got it with her CU rewards from her credit card...woohoo.

Anyway, I like it alot. It scans great, and scans at sizes that are appropriate for me. I mainly use my scanned images in layouts, so I don't need an 8 x10 full pic, but from what I read, it can do up 11 x 14. Just don't need that. I think it is 600 x 1200 (but don't quote me on that).

It is very easy and yes, as you can see, I don still scan. I have a box load of old pics from my kids younger years (of film) and my childhood years, etc. So I will be scanning probably til I am in my 80's. :p

Ok.. my scanner is ancient. Umax Astra 610P. It is not the best, but it does work. I don't use it all that often but I still have a bunch of older pictures that I want to scan.

Highs: It works, which is more then I can say for my printer

Lows: I am not sure if it is the scanner or me, but it leaves lots of little white dots all over the pictures. I have to clean them up a bunch before I can use them.

It's a Canon. My biggest beef with it is that it only scans things up to 11x17. Sigh...

I have, and totally love, my Epson Perfection 2400 Photo scanner! It does a beautiful job and I can scan photos, slides, and 35mm negatives. I have ordered an accessorie for it that will scan in the old 4 x 5 negatives that I have from early 20th century.

It will do a photo enhancement (to do color correction on old pictures) if I want it to, and will even remove dust from scanned negatives. I do a lot of genealogy, and have lots of old photos, negatives, etc., and this scanner does exactly what I need.
