In recognition of Labor Day, which is celebrated in the U.S. on Sept. 3, we chose Labor Day as a broad challenge topic for this coming week. It can any page related to labor/occupation OR to the celebration of the Labor Day Holiday, including picnics, etc.

~ the posting deadline is noon (dsp time) the day BEFORE the chat.
~ post pages in the Our Heritage Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=847)
~ you must post links to your lo in this thread
~ You may use any kit (not only mine!) BUT DSP products only please!

We will meet in the chat room at 10 PM DSP time (eastern US time) on Wednesday, Sept 5th, to vote on the best one. The winner wins a store coupon for a free page kit!

This will be a hard one for me, I think, but I'll see if I can find something.

This is my attempt at my first kit. I wanted these colors and decided not to buy it but to make it instead. Of course I'm not yet happy with it but when I am I will do another page with it to show how it is improving.

Ahhh, the days when I labored for a living, lol. Now I'm retired but I spent more than twenty (that's heritage I think) working for the Bell System and AT&T. I appreciate it all now but it was stressful at times. Here's my LO on labor unions, the phone factory and a little about me. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211037&cat=500&ppuser=65951

Thank you Meryl for this walk down memory lane and your wonderful As Time Goes By kit.

With this wonderful L-O-N-G Labor Day weekend, I was able to get a LO done! This one is actually about my husband's labor and a project he completed about 10 years ago that he is particularly proud of: Abundance of Life Patio (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211103&cat=500&ppuser=41276).

Hope everyone is enjoying a great weekend.

Ann, why don't you put it into the Our Heritage gallery until after the voting at chat on Weds and then transfer it over to the Gimme gallery? You have plenty of time as the deadline for that one is Friday or Saturday - I get mixed up with the time differences but I do know it's a lot later than Our Heritage.

My page is in the Gimme gallery so not in the running for a prize... but thought I'd share... thanks for the inspiration!

I think I missed the deadline, but here is my page (the holiday messed me up!) : )

My page is called Man of Steel (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211458&cat=847) and dedicated to my father in law's years of working in the steel mill.

Late is my middle name. I do not know why DSP runs so slow on my computer. Anyway here is my layout for Labor Day Celebrations, that last picnic before Fall activities take hold.

Meryl is off on holiday, but we still had a good group in the chat room tonight!!! There were many lovely pages and voting was very difficult as it has been on many occasions. I always love seeing all of the amazing pages and especially reading the wonderful journaling!!!

Tonight's winner was:

SUSANG with her page Labor at the Phone Factory (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211037&cat=847)

Congrats Susan!!!

ALSO.....Please check the thread I created where you can post any ideas that you have for future Heritage themes.

Suggestions for Heritage Themes (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26379)

There was already a great one mentioned in the chat tonight by caraffle to do a "kitchen" themed page. I thought it might be nice to keep track of any ideas in order to make it easier to choose each week...

Im so sorry I missed the chat tonight but had to be a church as we have a big Conference coming in a week, so much to do and everyone needs to be present for all the meetings, I will check to see what the next challenge is. I will not see you next week either as that is the first day of the conference and the dance team is needed there....see you in a few weeks, I hope to get some really great photos to scrap of the conference.

That's sweet of you sssnoo. I know how it can be at school time....it's one of the biggest retail times of the year. I hope things get into a good rhythm once school is underway. Can't wait to see your next heritage LO.
