Well, I'm totally ready to go. Got my laptop, got my lapdesk, got my files on my hard drive, got my flight and hotel. Just one week from today!!!
Now, I have some questions. Are there any group plans for Saturday night? If there aren't any, I'd kind of like to see a show or take a helicopter tour of LV at night or something. I've never Anybody want to join me?

whaaaaaaat? We aren't staying home in our PJ's and chatting at SNL? Boo. I hope you have a great time in Vegas Hoozie!!! I'm actually hoping it's dry so we can go to Sikeston to watch my brother dragrace. If not, I'll be waiting in the chat room. Take my flattie, K?

It's always a possibility AF! LOL! Could be that's what's planned anyway! I've never been to LV and would like to "see" a little bit of it. With the crop lasting all day Sunday and my flight leaving at 6:30 AM Monday, it's the only chance I'll get.
It might even be too hot there to do anything but sit around and chat anyway!

Well, Suz, I am phobic about the helicopter, and the shows are a little steep for my budget this time around! However, I really want to see the fountains at the Bellagio at night. (Free, right?? LOL!)
I've never been to Vegas either, so this will be an experience!!
I looked at the 10 day forecast for Vegas, and I have to say that the weather will be a lot cooler than it has been there: Saturday: 70-99, and Sunday: 73-99. (Fahrenheit) And it's dry heat compared to the awful muggy heat we have here in Austin.

Yes I want to photograph that too and some of the other lights on the strip. Maybe a night time photo shoot is in order? But I can't decide...Do I lug the SLR with all the accessories with me or bring my little point and shoot for ease of carrying?

FYI - There are a number of free shows on the strip at night. The Bellagio fountains, The erupting volcano at the Mirage. Treasure Island also has a Pirates/wenches show with cannons etc, get there about 30 minutes prior to the show as it gets pretty crowded on the sidwalk well in advance. I was hoping to make the photo walk on Saturday morning but I'm not sure if I will be able to yet.

I don't believe Treasure Island does the pirate show anymore, but they have something else.
The fountain show at night at the Bellagio is beautiful.
Here are some shows that are really good (all costs lots!):
Danny Gans (best ever!)
any on the Circ de Solei (sp?) shows, but not Zoomanity
Blue Man Group
The Scintas
Mamma Mia
Those are just some of the ones I like. HTH. I won't be able to go though. But, I'm so excited just to meet everyone!

TI (Treasure Island) and Mirage are directly across the street from the Venetian. The Bellagio is south a bit. All three are on the West side of the strip. LasVegas.com is a great site for Vegas information and you can google 'Las Vegas strip map' and will get some great maps too, it puts into perspective but although they all look close together - bring comfortable walking shoes! It is always further than it looks because the hotels are so big, when you see the one you want you think you are almost there but the walk is usually longer than you expect.

I was just about to ask about walking--I'm certainly used to it when I go to NY! But never having been to Vegas, I just wasn't sure if that was an option, or how far things really were...

everything is far! but it'll all close together too. not worth it to take taxis or the bus usually, tho if you're headed to a specific spot on one end and start on the other, i'd grab a cab! but definitely pack walking shoes!!

Everyone is telling me that things are deceptively close looking, but the hotels are so huge that it’s really quite aways. I’ve calculated .7 miles from the Embassy Suites to the Sands Expo and 2 miles to the Bellagio.
FormbyGirl has a car and might be able to ferry us places from the Embassy Suites or if there are too many of us, a taxi van.
I can tell you I won’t be walking that far in 100 degree heat lugging a camera and laptop and of course that oh so heavy money for shopping…

LOL, yes if I remember these places are so huge and take up so much room, they are not located close by. Very expensive place to visit but lots of fun. If you can share taxi vans that's the way to go.
