Does anyone have an opinion on a tablet. I want to hear pros and cons about brands and bottem to top of the line. I was thinking I really would like one 8x 12 or something like that but recently I read a review on a photoraphers site and he liked the 4x6 ? anyway it was the smaller size one and he said it works great even for its size. I am looking at wacom but want to know what are other and how they compare so anyone have anything here to help me make up my mind? Thanks your advise will help me.

I have the Wacom 4x6 and love it! Especially for doing fibers and painting.

I have a Wacom graphire4 4x6 and I love it. The size is great for me I don't really need a larger one. Maybe if you can draw you may want the larger size. I don't know how I managed without it.

I have a Wacom Intuos3 - It's big (I think 6x11). I think it's actually too big - you have to cover a lot of space with with pen to get across the screen. In retrospect, I would prefer a smaller one.

I have the wacom 4 by 6 and use it for painting, burning and dodging. Sometimes I use it for journaling. I love how you can program the buttons on the pen and the tablet. There are a lot of times that I do stuff without ever touching the key board. I like the size of mine because it goes anywhere. Customer service at Wacom is TOP NOTCH!! I was having some issues and the customer service rep was able to walk me through a fix right over the phone and then sent a follow up email just to make sure everything was still working out for me.

I have a Wacom graphire4 4x6. Fits my space. Debated on the larger size, but am glad I got what I did. Being a first time user, I thought I'd try it out first and see. Am happy that I don't have to drag my hand across a larger one. I'm left handed also, but mouse right, so I pen left and use my regular mouse with my right hand. Now if I had a wide screen like my husband just got (17 inch laptop and 24 or 27 can't remember-desktop) I'd get a wideformat now. But I'm working on duals a 17 and a 19 regular format. Whatever you do, get a Wacom.

Kydeb, if you don't like moving your hand all the way across your tablet, you can map it to a smaller size. Go to Start>All Programs>Wacom Tablet>Wacom Tablet Properties and click on the Mapping tab. Under Tablet Area, click on Portion and then use the handles to drag out a smaller area....Voila!! Your Tablet still takes up the same amount of space on your desk, but it now works like a smaller tablet and your hand doesn't have as far to go to get from one side of the screen to the other.

I have a Wacom Intuos 3, 6x8.
I love it.
I like the size because it never needed adjusting to - I've never thought it was too big or too small. It just worked from the moment I used it for the first time.
The Intuos has a markedly better sensitivity compared to the Graphire, so if you have a chance to go test them both, try them. I decided the Intuos was worth the extra, because it just was that much better to me.
But that means it does have quite a big footprint.
I should also say that I painted with pastels for years, but on canvas much larger. I expected to have to get used to it being smaller. Perhaps I would have on the 4x6, but the 6x8 just never needed any adjustments.
I SO need to sign up for the tablet class soon!

I have a Wacom Intuos 3, 4x6.
Its new and dh did the research and picked it out. Intuos has more sensitivity (pixels per inch or something like that) and DH thought that would be better for drawing. The size hasn't been an issue for me -- it relates to your screen size and so if you're drawing on a full screen and you want more control, you can zoom in. I'm still playing with it and learning but I absolutely love it so far.
