Hi, I have in-stalled my PSP 9 that I got for Christmas. Now the problem I am having is when I assemble a page, by the time I get to the end of it the layout is soooo large that everything is very hard to move and yesterday the whole screen went grey and took ages to display the program again. So what am I doing wrong, this grey out thingy never happened with PSP 7 but would get to be very hard and slow to move things on the layout.

The problem should not be my computer as I have XP Pro., Hyperthreading, 512 RAM, 3 ghz CPU, Pentium 4 enfinity system, about 100 gig of free harddrive space plus all the other bells and whistles that go with it, and it is only 9 months old.

Any advise welcome. Hugs from Pam.

I don't really know, your system seems nice enough. Are you creating in dpi instead of dpcm? 200dpi is about 80dpcm, so if you use the wrong units your file size will be drastically different. Are you creating in 200dpi instead of 300?

Hi Emma, I didn't make the background I was just putting a page together, it was 3600x3600 x16 million and I just added a photo and then some other bits and pieces. I don't know what size it was finally as I still have to find where it shows how many MB a page is in PSP 9, it was easy to see in PSP7, always on the bottom of the screen.

In PSP 9 (and 8 too) when you click on the resize tool (or Image--> Resize) at the top of the dialog box, it'll give you the pixel dimensions and also the dpi (third number). With 512 of memory, I'd use 200 always. To change this, go to the part of the dialog box labelled Print Size and change the resolution to 200 and make sure it is dots per INCH. Then go back up and change your Pixel Dimensions to 2400x2400 (for a 12x12 page).

Now (and I may be wrong on this, so correct me anybody) anything you copy and paste onto this background will auto convert to 200 dpi. That'll keep the whole project file size down to a manageable level, hopefully.
