Hi , me again, could anyone help with this, I have lots of plug-ins that work in PSP 7, but when I go to file preferences and "show" PSP 9 where the filters are they still won't show up in PSP 9, I have both the Plugin.dll and msvcrt10.dll files.
I had the filters in a folder in My Documents and moved them into the MY PSP Files folder that PSP 9 makes in the in-stall, they showed up in PSP 7 as soon as I changed the file preferences but still nothing in PSP 9.
And I think that it was a bit of a rip-off that PSP 9 does not have any plug-ins in the program, not even good old Eye Candy 3  .

Hugs from Pam.

My plugins from 8 transferred over to 9 just fine, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe Sally, Emma or Angela or one of the PSP gurus can help! Sorry you're having this trouble, I know first hand how switching things from 8 to 9 can be a headache (I had trouble with brushes for some stupid reason).

I am not sure why it won't recognize them. I had the beta version of psp 9 and it recognized all my stuff. I no longer have it and I am back to v8.10. Unless someone else has had that problem, you might consider asking on the JASC user forums.

Also, PSP9 does have proprietary filters, that should be under the effects menu. Eye Candy 3, however, is a third party filter and not owned by JASC/Corel. it wouldn't be "in PSP9". Although I do remember that they did bundle it with the PSP 7 or 8 for a while (can't remember which one). The program itself will not come with any third party filters unless it is a bundled package.

oh, wow, I have no clue. Sounds like a gliche that needs sorted out with Jasc either through customer service or their user forums. I had zero issues transferring anything, and my fonts weren't screwed up either ;)

Someone grab Sally or Lori, they'd know, right?

I had that problem with PSP9 as well. But it was resolved quickly.
When starting v9 for the first time the program asked whether I want it to look for updates. I did, it searched and found one that enabled PSP9 to use plug-ins. Obviously my version was not able to from the beginning, though I can't imagine why Jasc is selling a version which isn't. Anyway, it told me that the patch was downloaded and installed properly after a while. I still couldn't use any plugins, though. Only after a restart of the PC it worked fine.

I hope this helps to fix your problem.

Oh, also, I just read your post once more. If I'm not mistaken, the filters don't go into the My PSP files folder, but into the plug ins folder in the program files, don't they?

plugins can go anywhere you want them to go, you just need to tell PSP where to look for them. I have all of mine in a folder within "My PSP files" in "My Documents" called "Plugins", each plugin has its own subdirectory. I told PSP to look for plugins in the "plugins" file and to include all subdirectories. It works fine for me! :)

Oh, really, I didn't know that. I just thought, that this works for all the rest, I wasn't aware that it also works for plug-ins. Good to know. Thanks, Valeri.

Thank you to all, but a BIG "thank you" for Rikki, I just opened my PSP 9 clicked on Help and then found "Check for Updates" and what I found was a patch for PSP 9 to enamble it to see the plugins, it took a few seconds and without having to re boot all of the plugins are now showing up.
There is also a critical update list to protect against the virus that is now out there that attacks photos, so I will down load that as well.
Hugs from Pam, a very happy PSPer.

No probllem, Pam, I'm glad that fixed it. Nothing is more annoying than a new program and some feature (esp. an important one) doesn't work :) .
